Solid Gypsy Vanner?

#28852 Posted on 2016-04-09 16:22:45

I had a quick question. How common is a solid chestnut Gypsy Vanner and how much are they worth?

I'd like to know too, because I only have one solid, she's a chestnut, but in all of my breedings, she's my only solid.

On the old EV, chestnut's was the most desired color, and solid chestnuts were the most sought after. But, now that there are so many new colors, chestnut isn't as sought after, but it's still gorgeous. ♥

I am totally all over the new colors and patterns; besides the base colors. :)

-blew a ton of money on new colored GVs-

Chestnuts are still a nice color, and some people are in love with solids. I bought a ton before the recode, and have since kinda sold a lot off since they're somewhat easier to get and I decided I love the look of the new markings, so I'm breeding more for those.

-nudges Buck-
I have some pretties up for sale, if you need to bulk up your stock.

Just may look at your boy Buck. Got a single mare that I just can't find a quality stud for and she needs to be bred in a few weeks. ;)

I agree, but why hasn't he thrown any other color???? I mean, why did the foals not at least have heterozygous cream???? He's homozygous yet all his foals are chestnut or bay!!!

maybe has something to do with me changing his coat shortly after I bought him and a lot of his foals being bred before the change?

^ this. XD
None of my boys are quite up for studding yet. I try to avoid having them up before 15 years, and I'm only just raising my store horses - which I avoid outside breeding until the third generation. But I do just have a barn full of store horses of almost every breed, which will be studded out between 15-19, and bred to my mares at 19 years and 20 years, to create my next line of studs and broodmares. XD

I try to bring in new and outside blood after about the second generation myself. I am so paranoid about inbreeding them XD

It really depends on the buyer. A new player might not be as interested as a basically blank horse isn't very interesting when there's so many other genetics that you can get now. However, a long time player that wants to continue their Chestnut line, yes, it would be very valuable. The point is that this horse would have been a lot mroe valuable in old Equiverse, where peopels two aims were for Chestnut horses, and for solid ones, and seeing as you had combined both of those goals in one horse, it would be very valuauble.
