'Tis the Season for Scary Stories

Let me see... the creepiest story I can remember...

I think I was about 12 at the time. I had gone to bed hours ago and was sleeping fairly well until my bladder woke me up, as usual. It must have been maybe 2 or 3 in the morning. All the lights in the house were off and everyone was sleeping. I could hear my sister sleep-mumbling, and I could hear my "dad" snoring, so I assumed my mom was also asleep. When I went to the bathroom, I remember hearing a kitchen chair scratching across the floor in the dining room. I remember thinking that was odd, but heading back to my room anyway, at least until I noticed a light coming from somewhere in the dining room vicinity. It was a cold light. Kind of blue. It faded in and out like a tv. Plus I heard voices like two people talking. It was a man and a woman. I thought maybe mom or "dad" was awake and watching tv. I headed toward the living room just to see if everything was ok. As soon as I entered the dining room, I realized that none of the chairs I had heard moving earlier were moved, and the light I had seen was now off. The voices had stopped.

I stood stalk still in the hallway between the living room and the dining room. There was this strange feeling, like right before a really loud clap of thunder. You know? When you feel tense, and are holding your breath without realizing it? That. Suddenly I heard a man yell and a woman scream coming from the living room. I hauled like a track star back to my room and dove under the covers.

All I know is this; I heard what I heard, I saw what I saw, I was the only one who was up, and I have no other answers.
