Should I even bother?

#221 Posted on 2016-02-13 12:15:49

Seriously. Thanks to the inbreeding block my lines are basically useless. All my high stated horses are related to each other, and given that I chose to do show jumping, either there aren't any show jumping appaloosas with high enough traits, or they're related to my own (assuming these horses even get imported).

The few that are trained in show jumping with high enough total stats seem to have all their points poured into one trait, i.e speed, which doesn't do me a lick of good.

Coming back after being gone for 2 years, I guess, I look at my horses and I'm still mad that several years of work has essentially been flushed down the toilet.

So, I'm open to suggestions that do not involve buying up a whole bunch of foundations. Tried that prior to the game move and frankly, I'd rather slam my head against the wall till I knock myself unconscious.

Nah, not with that attitude. You had 4 years of warnings to prepare for this.

Not sure that you have much options, other than starting over with foundations. Or deal with the appaloosa studs that have everything put into one stat area and go from their. Or change specialities, buy appaloosa stock not involved in show jumping.

You could also change breeds but that would involve starting with foundations.

Perfect example of why I don't inbreed.

iirc from wandering around today, you can change specialties for 10k for the first time on each of your horses and it'll redistribute stats.

Maple: Or, you know. I was busy with real life issues. Real life takes precedence over any game.

Zest: Back when I started, there was no block with inbreeding. It boiled down to personal preference. I rarely, if ever, sold my stock. Unfortunately, I'm not sure changing specialties would do much good. This is my highest statted horse, so any foals would be at an immense disadvantage in showing.

I didn't know about this change as I have been on a lenghty hiatus on the live game. I never planned on inbreeding on purpose, but it seems so strange when one considers how closely related breeds are in general. (Thinking of Mr Prospector and Northern Dancer in TBs, particularly).

Suzy: I'm not finding that on any horse pages, unfortunately. If you could point me in the direction, that would be great.

Arty: Yes, that was my main point as well when it was brought up. I attempted to breed up a bunch of foundations, but it was exhausting having to deal with 40+ foundations...Aaand then real life happened. So I dumped them on the market and locked my account.

That works. Still hate that I'm essentially being forced into putting all my horses into western.

Kuk, could you buy high statted stock from another discipline and switch their training over to your discipline?

Late posts are late.

Horses have already been switched over to western.
