Last night at approximately a pony I used to ride named  had to be put down.  He was only 13 years old and was  put down as a result of a colic incident

My mind keeps telling me "no he's alive, you'll see him again". What I would give to snuggle him one more time, I just wish I had a chance to say goodbye. I just want to braid his forelock and hug him, but I cant.

This has shown me just how fragile a life can be, and from now on I think I'll see the value in each and every ride I have on any horse, and truely appreciate it.

That is one of the sweetest things I've ever read! ohmagosh. sorryforthat lol
(You would mind me saving that would you? I may use it in a writing piece, if alright with you :3 edit: not directly, similar tho)

What you just said there reminded me of my past away dog. Tho she died a long time ago I rememberevery last second with her. Soooo sweet ♥

Update: currently crying and hugging my current 8 yr old dog. He only has a few more years left in him and now I'm cherishing our moments more now than ever.

@snoglobe
id prefer if you didn't use the direct quote, but there's nothing stopping you- it's just a general idea that i think I need to focus on more, cherishing every moment i have with Lashley, or any other horse or animal for that matter.

I'm very happy that we own one of his daughters, who I rode today, it helps ease the pain being able to ride a part of him. She was up for sale but I think we'll be keeping her now, in remembrance of him.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. Having lost dogs before I know it's more than losing "just a pet" - it's losing a friend. I hope some of Sporty's spunk lives on in his children.

I am so sorry for your loss. :( He sure is a cute little guy, and sounds like quite a character. It's not the same, but you can a part of him alive, in your thoughts, pictures, and the stories you have of him.

His spunk was definitely passed on to his daughters, although they look nothing alike, the personalities are identical. He was such an awesome pony, he will be remembered for years to come.
