Gypsy club colour breeding contest

#19528 Posted on 2016-03-15 08:05:09

In light of our many colour breeders, and the huge number of new genes added to the breed with the recode, the Gypsy Club is holding a colour breeding contest. The challenge is to breed a foal whose genes most closely match the given genotype. This contest will judge colour only. Stats, conformation, etc will not be relevant.

You will need both skill and luck to win. You will need to research stallions and mares, breed strategically, read and understand genotypes, and potentially negotiate breedings with other player's horses. You do NOT necessarily need to breed the exact genotype to win, just get closer than anyone else.

Your Mission
...should you choose to accept it, is to breed a gypsy vanner with these genes (or as close as you can get):
Ee A+At gg CrCr dd chch Ff zz Pp stysty rbrb Rn+ oo Spsp lplp patn1patn1 patn2patn2
To enter a foal, post a link to them in this thread.

Scoring
Your foal will score 1 point for each allele they have in common with the above genotype.
The winner will be the foal with the highest score by the end of the month, or the first to exactly match the above genotype.
Example: Since one of the target genes is gg, if your foal had the gene Gg this would increase its score by 1 point, while a gene of gg would get it 2 points, but a gene of GG would get it 0 points.

Rules
- foal must be a gypsy vanner
- must be born after the time/date of this post
- must not be customised
- must be genotype tested
- you may enter as many foals as you like
- contest closes 11:59pm March 30th

Prize
The player who breeds the winning foal will get $250,000 EVD.

I look forward to seeing all your colourful foals!

Results
We had so many gorgeous foals, and while no one managed to breed the exact genetic combination (I made it hard on purpose!), many of you came very close.

First place, with a score of 31, is Ⓛ Burtonesque (#448463), bred by Windspun, who has won the grand prize of $250,000 EVD!
Equal second place, with scores of 28 each, are Colby (#448466), bred by Windspun, and Marietta Perry (#448521) and πŸ’œ (zz) FG Death Star {66.13} (#451359), bred by Feathered Gold.
Equal third place, with scores of 27 each, are Phantomhive (#448459) and Smokey Eyes (#448457), bred by Windspun, and New Foal (#449281), bred by Syrien.
Fourth place, with a score of 26, is *~FF~*Emperor's Rule/61.89RbRn (#448519), bred by Feathered Gold.
Fifth place, with a score of 21, is GG EASY ON THE EYES F2 (#448465), bred by Windspun.

Congratulations to Windspun, and to everyone else who entered, and their amazing horses!

Now I'm afraid that I'm gonna go crazy with breeding...... I normally don't breed my horses before they are 17!! Got three foals due in five days.

Aww I could do this in 1 -2 breedings but I would have to change a couple of genders and that would muck up my original plan! I guess I'm just going to have to work a little harder. lol

If you bred a foal with that exact genotype I think the colour would be listed as perlino, or possible mealy perlino? I think the pattern would be listed as splashed white roan.

But again, that's only if you have that exact genotype, you can still win by just getting close. And don't forget that it's the genes that matter, not the colour or pattern name.

Hope this helps! :)

Mealy Palomino
ee Aa gg Crcr dd chch Ff zz Pp stysty rbrb ++ oo spsp lplp patn1patn1 patn2patn2

Smoky Black Dun with Frame Splash Rabicano Roan
Ee aa gg Crcr DD chch ff zz Pp stysty Rbrb Rn+ Oo Spsp lplp patn1patn1 patn2patn2

Neither one are super close to the required genotype, but they are GORGEOUS!!!! ♥

Both are for sale if anyone wants them; don't have any need for either one at this time, but definitely will pair their parents last foals together when the time comes. :)

Feathered Gold, you've accidentally used the wrong link for the first horse. Can I confirm that you instead meant this horse: Marietta Perry (#448521)

And, yes, they are gorgeous!

Yeah, I meant to do the Mealy Palomino. :) I didn't need the foals so I sold them. :)

That's ok, a valid entry just requires you to have bred them. :)

I've made a record of your entries. Thanks for entering!
