[ADDED] Base Coat instead of just "gray"

This suggestion has been marked as "Added To The Game". Thank you, Yggdrasil, for the suggestion and to those of you who supported for making Equiverse better!

Exactly as title states. Instead of clicking through 50 grays, perhaps show the coat color as Gray (Bay) or something.

Personal pet peeve thought I'd see if anyone else felt the same.

I did click don't support because usually you don't really know in RL what a gray is, unless you bred it (and saw it's base coat at birth) or owned it before it started turning gray, got it color tested or could make an educated guess by offspring.

Edit.. however IF the horse HAD been genetically tested then I could see adding the (base color) to the color.. but this wouldn't really help with horses people didn't want to spend the 1k on just to drop in the RC.

This is a game, a realistically based game, but a game none the less. So why not show the base coat. If genetics are shown it's easier to tell what color it is, but can be annoying none the less.

If it's going to tell you whats under the gray just because, then why bother having genetic tests? Just show everything right away.

I support, however I do not believe the base coat color should be stated unless the horse has been genetic tested.

I agree: unless the horse has been tested it should not state the base coat color. However, it would be handy to have the ability to see (on tested horses) the color without having to open ever horse that has gray to tell what the base is. (hope that made sense)

Maybe if they name was dynamic, as well as the image. So a horse which is grey covering chestnut could have its colour listed as rose grey when it's young, then just grey once it's fully greyed out. We wouldn't need a name for every colour with grey, as we could have more general names such as dark grey or iron grey for black + grey, and seal brown + grey, and similar. For lighter colours like perlino + grey it could be simply light grey. Maybe dapple grey for some of the interim stages where the horse gets dapples from greying.

Totally Support.

just because you know the horses' color under the grey doesn't mean that the genetic testing will be a waste. The color might say gray (bay), but you don't know if the horse is EE/AA, Ee/AA, or Ee/Aa. it doesn't make genetic testing useless, it would just mean that less gray horses might get tossed in the RC just for being grey since players would know that a pretty champagne or perlino might be hiding under the grey

I think making it dynamic would be much more work than simply putting Grey (Bay) next to it. No genotype testing required.

Or at least do it if the horse is under 10 when you can still SEE the color.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's helpful.

Genotype testing is supposed to be a money sink. By putting "Grey (base color)" it kind of removes the need to genotype a horse outside of seeing on if it's homozygous or not, which can be mostly guessed by its parents, if lined.

Frankly, I'm going to toss grey horses in the RC regardless of what's under the grey, unless it's super rare. In that case, I'd use an item to remove the grey. I don't like grey and don't want it in my herds.

It's still not a big deal, I think it'd be useful, so why not?

That's you, though. Others might not want to toss greys.
Also, that doesn't really make sense as there aren't items to remove grey alone anymore :P you need to change the whole thing, in which case you could easily change ANY grey.

Given the amount of greys in the RC, I think that plenty of people want to toss greys.

Plenty isn't all.

Anyway, I support this.

I've adopted plenty of grays, especially when I know I can breed the gray out in a generation or too and they have good genes hiding underneath. I don't see what the big deal is. -shrug- I mean the rarer colors are fun to try for, but they grays have some pretty combinations as well.
