*Ability to upgrade for other members?

I from time to time think I would like to do some giveaways and such and help out newer players and maybe help people get a deluxe and would want to do it as a surprise. I think it would be a cool option to have the ability that you can enter in a different player ID for which account you would like to upgrade. 

Sounds like a fun way to do a nice deed to me!

Yes, but what if you want to specifically gift an upgrade? Wouldn't it be a better surprise to have them go onto their account and find someone gave them an upgrade rather than seeing some credits? 

I think it would be better, especially at Secret Santa time!

I paid for my upgrade with real money. I am not in favor of handing them out for free to other players. I like being able to sell EC to other players if I need to (there is no problem with this, it is how players end up buying in game money with real money in all reality) but just handing out free upgrades is unfair to players who do pay and its unfair to the owner/s of this site who have lovingly developed this game for us to enjoy. Besides you can just give them the amount of EC needed to do the upgrade themselves.

Now, I think a nice compromise can be done and if it was done this way then I would be 100% in favor of this. If such a feature is needed, then an item could be made just an example let's call it "The Luxury Saddle Bag" This item would be the deluxe upgrade and can be bought in the credit store in the same way Loki's Dagger or other items can be bought. You can buy that item from the credit shop and use it themselves directly or turn around and either sell it for ED to another player or if you chose to, you can give the item away. But either way I think that if I have to pay for my own upgrade then somebody else has to pay for a freebie given out. I am 100% in favor of being able to sell upgrades to other players for in game money and would very likely do just that if this was a feature in the game and I had the extra real money to pay for it.

Another way to handle this, is you are allowed to give a set number of players (let's say one player per 365 days) a short free trial (let's say one or two weeks max.) I am not hugely in favor of this suggestion I have just made but I wouldn't be angry about it like I would if we were suddenly allowed to just hand out free memberships willy nilly.

<sup>If you don't want to pay to upgrade someone else then you just wouldn't use this feature. It is meant specifically for those who would want to give an upgrade as a gift. So having an item that could be used to upgrade would basically be the same thing. I spend a lot of real life money on this game to get my credits. Sometimes I have friends in the game that I know are struggling and I enjoy helping people out and it would be cool to be able to surprise them with it rather than just send them a bunch of credits. You don't have to upgrade anyone else if you don't want to. 

I don't see why allowing people to use their credits that they paid for to use it to upgrade another member if that is what they want would make anyone angry.</sup>

<sup>Seems like there's been a misunderstanding to me, if you're using the credits that you've bought, then I don't see how giving away a membership takes away game income? You're still buying the credits, just spending them on a deluxe for another player rather than extending your own deluxe days. It's not really any different to gifting a credit item or credits to them, and cuts out the "middle man" so to speak of the deluxe item being used to gift a deluxe. 

The only issue I could potentially see is people begging for a deluxe off players who are known to gift deluxe/have credits, but begging is so rare on EV anyway that I doubt it'd be a huge issue. 

Fully support as long as it uses up the gifters credits.</sup>
