Bud's 'After the Tutorial' Guide

Wondering what to do next after finishing the Game Tutorial? Wanna know the best way to make some money or the quickest way to level up? Newcomers & Veterans alike can probably pick up a few tips here. So, take some time to browse around this post!

Establishing A Stable:
Everyone wants a nice stable that accurately showcases their horses, and which aspect of them they focus on. In the Game Tutorial, you're taught how to go to the Equine Center & purchase a horse. So you should already have at least one horse. Whether you picked your horse's breed quickly to finish the tutorial, or took the time to carefully consider, you can always change your main breed, and even breed a different horse breed on the side.

You want to have at least two or three horses, so long as you can afford it. This will give you a better chance in winning more shows, therefore making more money.

All Equine Center (EC) horses start out as Novice 1 horses, with 100 Stats. Conformation varies, but is rarely higher than 65+. With all horses you create from the EC, you can choose their discipline. This should be carefully considered because once you choose the discipline, it costs 10,000 EVD to change it. After you change it once, it then costs credits to change it again. So make sure you pick your discipline very carefully, and pay attention to what you have picked. Not all horses have to have the same discipline.

Once you have your discipline on your horses, it's time to decide on what you're main focus when breeding will be. There is color, markings, stats, conformation, or all of the above. The aspect of each focus is pretty self-explanatory. You can choose what color you want your horses to be, or what markings you want them to have. You can also focus on a minimum amount of stats (you can view UlyssesBlue's Foal Stat Calculator here) you decide is acceptable, or what number of conformation is acceptable, or you can choose all of the above. What you decide to focus on is up to you, and what you decide is acceptable is up to you.

Making Money:
Everyone needs money. How else are you supposed to pay for tack, vet, farrier, etc. without it? Luckily on EV, there are methods of making money.

Method 1: Showing-
This is, I believe, what EV is based on. Training & Showing horses. Because showing is broken down by show level (i.e. Novice 1, Novice 2, & so on and Local 1, Local 2, etc.) your horse will be competing with horses at the same level, giving everyone a fair chance. Now, because there may be many horses in the shows you've entered your horse in, there is a chance they may not place 3rd or higher. In this case, you do not receive any show winnings. However, if your horse places 3rd or higher, they win money AND XP, therefore helping you level up! They also win some stats!

Method 2: Riding Schools-
Riding Schools are an alternative to shows. You're guaranteed money through riding schools. The best thing to do is pick your riding school based on your horse's specialty. I always use the 10 slots towards the class with the highest amount of money. However, if you prefer XP, you can go that route & use the 10 slots in that class, or you can put x amount of horses to earn mostly money and x amount of horses to gain mostly XP. Again, it's preference.

Method 3: Money without Horses-
EV has a few methods to making money without having to have a large herd, or even one horse! There's a few games you can play, the best are Higher or Lower and the Coin Toss. However, if you're feeling lucky, you can try your hand with the EV Lottery! Another great way to earn some free cash is by visiting the EV Fountain! The junkyard can also give you some tack or items you can restore and sell. All the places listed can be found by clicking 'Town' in the navigation.

Leveling Up:
The biggest challenge, to me, on EV is leveling up. Each level unlocks specific features to the game, which enhance overall game play. So what's the quickest way to level up? I've found you level up faster through showing. While you're not guaranteed anything through showing, when you do win earnings, etc., you also earn XP.

Basic Information:
Here's just some basic game navigation, how-to's and things of the like!

- How do I move my horse?
 - There are two ways to do this. If you'd like to move just ONE horse, click on him & go to his page. Scroll down until you      see 'Move Horse'. Click the division drop down box & chose the division you'd like to move it to.
 - If you'd like to move MULTIPLE horses, hover over the 'home' navigation & click on 'Horses'. Look in the right hand corner.  You will be a pencil, with the word 'Edit'. Click that. There will now be checkboxes beside your horses' names. Click on the  ones you want to move, and then look at the bottom of the division. Click the dropdown division box, and select the new  division to move them to. Then click, 'Move Horses'.

- How can I decorate my page?
 - If you are deluxe, you can commission someone to make & code you a layout, or search for tutorials to learn to make one yourself.. If you are basic, you can use BBCode to  decorate your page to some extent. Scrollboxes do not work with BBCode. (UlyssesBlue has written a guide to BBCode, you  can find it here)

- Why can't I open a Club/Stables?
 - This is a deluxe feature that requires an upgrade to access.

There are many other game guides, this is just my small contribution of tips I have learned through gameplay.
You can view those other guides here
