Horse riders!

Do you ride in real life? Why? I ride and I LOVE it! I have loved horses forever, but I've ridden only for 2,5 years... My relatives have a horse barn, but it's far away from my home so I won't be able to ride there. So, waiting for your replies! :)

I used to. I havn't for several years now.

I used to train horses as well. I miss it. Before I..."quit" I had been riding since before I can even remember. I want to get back into it, but my health has been going majorly downhill, so I dont know if I will be able to anymore.

I am still riding, but I won't be for very long. In 2017 I will switch to pulling with my own pony.

Aw, it sucks to not be able to ride due to your health not being so well.

i do ride! i always loved horses, even as a very tiny kid. i grew up with a pony in the backyard (not my pony, she belonged to some neighbors). i couldn't ride her, but i went to visit her every day, and even after we moved out of that apartment i'd go ride my bike over there and continue to visit her for another ten years.

some family friends had horses and i was able to ride them sometimes, and my dad took me to ride the horses in the park whenever he could. i didn't start riding lessons until i was 11 or 12. i got my first horse when i was 16.

i've ridden western, hunter/jumper, endurance, dressage, and saddleseat. i've started a few youngsters from scratch and have re-trained numerous thoroughbreds right off the track.

i finally found my equestrian "home" in the Icelandic horse community, and i don't think i'll ever go back to riding big horses.

I've been riding since I was five! So... A little over twenty years now? Wow. lol
I've always had access to horses either through a friend or having my own... until now. I still have my Miniature but no riding horses... though, I do drive! which if you havent tried it, you totally should! It is so much fun! I have driven minis, ponies, and the draft horses at Disneyland! ♥

I have ridden for eleven years now, I have always had horse's. My first horses' weir a pony named Daisy and a old Indian mustang gelding name Amigo, he lived to be thirty seven!!. All together I have had eight horse's. Right now I just have two, a miniature pony, and my mare who just had her first foal a week ago! well nine if you count the foal :) . Horse's are my life I don't know what I would do without having at least one horse.

I ride hunter/jumper mostly, but I kinda prefer dressage. :P

I haven't ridden in the last month or so since the hubby lost his job, so it's been a little too financially tight to get to the barn for a lesson. As soon as he's employed again I'll be off riding! :)

17 years, aka all my life. Literally, my mom was pregnant and still riding. We've done horse rescue, training, and re-homing. Pretty much we were an unofficial horse rescue. Back then, there wasn't any horse rescues near us, and people knew us. We rescued, and re-homed about 20+ horses. I have so many pictures of them. The list goes on and on. Amir (Paso gelding), Tonto (Bay tobiano mare), Bob (Brown/Black Belgian Warmblood gelding), and many more.

Anyways, back to riding. For the first 14 or so years, I only did Trail riding, and Western. No showing, or anything. Then, I turned to English, and it's become my favorite. My mom did Saddleseat, and WalkTrot/Canter classes with her Arabian gelding. Until he passed, and she was heartbroken. She barely rides anymore, though it's mostly due to her disabilities.

We have five horses, and many other animals. I used to ride our now 20 yo Paso mare all the time. But, unfortunately she's being retired due to multiple physical issues. So, now I'm riding and training our Haflinger gelding, Mack.

I have a goal of trying Endurance, even if I don't stick to it. Though, that'll be in the future, as I'd need a horse more fit for that. Mack is too lazy.

For now I'm focus on English. Also I only ride Bitless, unless I'm doing lessons elsewhere, (not on Mack). I mostly do bareback as well, and have done bridleless.

Here's a picture of Mack.

Better late then never.
I have not been on my horses since September. Health issues knocked winter riding out even with an indoor arena. I have been riding since before I can remember. Atm I have three horses. One is currently with my sister. Montana is a rescued Arabian mare. Nice little trail horse. Reins well but not my Miya. Miya is my Spanish Arabian paint cross. She is my fun horse. You name it she does it. She is 22 though so we don't do as much as we used to. She is a Eventer, knows western pleasure an a heck of a sidesaddle horse. Her dressage level is Grand Prix though we don't practice much anymore. She jumps six feet an that's to high for my taste. Wyatt is my daughters paint tb cross. He is a wonderful barrel horse and trail horse. He is also very unpredictable so only my daughter an I ride him. He was severely abused before I got him.
