Sacred Capture

#49270 Posted on 2016-06-25 13:44:38

In a valley, separated from the tribes of humans are the most beautiful creatures of them all, those that cause all others to look bland in comparison. Horses. Powerful, sleek, and bold.
For years upon years, for generations, these horses have been deemed sacred by the people. Different tribes have different beliefs about them. Some believe that they were placed there as watchful eyes of the gods, some think they were the gods' pets, and others believe that they were the forms of their gods themselves. No belief is the same, but their beliefs don't stop them from acting on desperate times.
Wars are breaking out between the tribes/villages, and as their numbers go down, so do their confidence. They turn to these horses to aid them in war, as mounts as if they will change anything.
While some people disagree with this plan, others are too scared to care anymore.
Will the horses survive the war, and stress? Or will this be the cause of their extinction?

Summary:

- You are one of these horses, living in a paradise when these humans come out of nowhere, and begin capturing you.
- You will be trained for war, and attempted to be broken in.
- Your rider will most likely be a high ranked knight.
- This is the time without vehicles, or technology. Regualr animals, like normal horses, and ox are the normal transportation.Think knights, villages, actual tribes, you get the idea.
- You all know each other.

Rules:
- USE A CHARACTER! I wanted this to be a little twist. Choose one of your unnatural ones, and if you don't have one describe the best you can.
- You are not invincible.
- You can act as human if you want to, if you would like to roleplay your rider or antagonist, go for it.
- Remember, you were wild, there is no immediate bonding with humans. It's okay to be a little curious at first, but once the craziness begins, you are frightened. Horses are prey animals.
- Say your favorite animal in the "Other section", so I know you read this.
- Be nice.
- Feel as if the roleplay is getting dry? Make something crazy happen, I'm not going to be strict on this roleplay.
- Powers are to be something that an animal would use in their mindset, or help them as a breed. Like poison immunity, thermal resistance, or night vision. Simple stuff, an evolved mutation. If you're unsure, message me, or ask on here.

Sorrow slowing took her time walking along as she stretched her neck down to rip at the fresh clean grass she claimed as her meal. Her red eyes lazily scanning the herd's current home contently. Surrounding the large clearing were mountains housing nothing but birds, and an occasional mountain goat. No human, predator, or pesky fly has bothered to enter the area in years since the first discovery. The only time a human is sighted close by is when someone would come drop random fruits to the horses in hopes of having a prayer answered in return.
There was no sneaking up on the "sacred horses" due to the one opening to the clearing, either above, or the valley leading straight to them.
Sorrow lifted her head to look over at the other horses with a snort, grass hanging out of her mouth.

Fangana looked around and snorted noisily. She glanced behind and saw the village. Her fangs started glowing, and in annoyance she shook her head to turn them off. Fangana saw Sorrow looking over and walked over.

Helios

The dark dappled stallion made his way slowly across the meadow, he clearly had his mind on other things but the herd seemed to be gathering and he figured he should probably join in, or standby. He was within 50 yards of the other horses and their thoughts mingled with his own, muffled at first, then louder as he neared. Most would call this ability a gift, most of the time he saw it as only a nuisance. It was a good gift for initial judgement of character and other small things. When he was within hearing distance he dropped his head, the fiery tresses falling forward as he nibbled at the greenery. He wasn't hungry but it kept his mouth busy while he waited for something to happen.

Sebastian

Seb stood in the wind, looking up at the blue sky. The clouds seemed to be quite grey, and he shuttered. One thing he disliked was the uncomfortable feeling of rain hammering his coat, but when he shook his head nd looked up again, they were perfectly white. His mind was playing tricks on him again. He gazed among all of the horses and spotted Sorrow. His stomach collapsed and he quivered. Tingles within his skin started to get to his head and he began to sweat. This was no anger or hatred he was feeling toward the young beautiful mare, yet his crazy feelings for her. He had loved her for 2 years now, and he sure did hope that he would someday have her. Sadly, he though about the stories his father would make up, and lowered his head.
-Stories-
If a male had major feelings toward a mare... then he would most likely be let down toward the mares crush, or soon to be crush.
He rolled his eyes and played with the swaying green grass. He looked around and saw a rabbit, then shook his head. No, he thought peeling his red eyes from the delicate, soft rabbit. He looked around and saw Sorrow again. Once again, his heart leaped. Then, he began to chew on the, descusting grass. It was like feeding an apple to a vampire.

Sorrow flicked her black ears around as if listening for anything, and shook her mane to flick her gray-red mane from her eyes. She remained silent for a moment, staring at the valley leading to the human villages. She finished off the grass hanging from her mouth, "I saw a large group leaving today, I wonder what the problem is this time." She was positive they were heading in their direction, but didn't seem all that concerned at all. She ripped up another mouthful of grass, looking from Fangana to Helios to Sebastian a distance away.
She knew all about his affections, but was clearly unsure what to do about it.

Yinyang

The two toned coloured mare watched as Sorrow's gaze was on the human's, she sometimes wondered if the young mare would ever stop worrying about them, no human has ever laid a finger on the "sacred horses" as they like to call them. So she didn't really pay much attention to them, though she did have fear and worry accumulating in the back of her thoughts most of the time with the human's sudden activity raise. But Sorrow was always watching them, making sure they didn't near the herd. The thin mare then walked slightly closer to the red maned mare, hearing her speak slightly. "I think you worry too much, Sorrow." Yinyang said to the mare, stopping beside her.

Xzander

The purple-grey shaded stallion lifted his head as he heard some of the herd being to speak. Flicking his inwardly curved ears away so their voices were muffled, he stepped farther away, his unusually short tail attempting to flick away flies that landed on him. Raising his head, he rolled his eyes at Yinyang, the young dual colored mare was always assuming things it seemed.
"Sorrow doesn't seem to be concerned enough for you to speak so boldly of her thoughts, Yinyang." He spoke with his usual, disconnected, distant, yet proper tone. He looked away from the group, returning to grazing as he flicked his ears back, waiting for a reply from someone.

(Sorry it is short, I'm a little brain dead)

Helios

The awkwardness of the situation almost made the large brute uncomfortable. Almost, he was starting to get used to these types of situations. As Sorrow's memories ran through her consciousness they flowed towards Helios and he lifted his head, turning in the direction that Sorrow had mentally pictured. Another good use for that ability. He thought to himself as he lazily chewed the last few blades of grass in his mouth. It would be so much easier than describing places. He put that thought away for a second and reached into the mare's mind. If they come close I will let everyone know. he figured they were all used to his abilities by now even though he hardly used them. It was easier and more clear than talking out loud to someone.
He slipped away from her and turned away, returning to the crisp blades.

Pandora + Panera + Panorama

The three headed, three minded, multy colored horse rolled about in the still slightly dewy grass. Pandora, her dreadlocked mane a mess as she shifted her two legs in an attempt to make them get up, nieghed towards Sorrow. "Humans are nothin' to worry 'bout. Don't no one go getting' worried." She chuckled as she finally got Panera and Panorama to get up so they were standing.
Panera forced her slightly to short neck down far enough to graze, though the grass tasted different. For no particular reason. Probably Pandora rubbing her greasy coat all over it. She thought to herself as she raised her head with a snort.
Panorama shook out her long, clean mane, trying to get flies off her neck. She neighed to Helios, the strong stallion had always caught her eye as a great choice for a mate, though he seemed not to notice, though she knew he could tell she did, he could hear her thoughts after all. "Oh, at least someone can protect us. So strong, and willing to risk himself for the herd." she smiled as she felt Panera reach over and nip her neck, grumbling something about how she was way to obviously mooning over the stallion.

Sorrow snorted loudly at everyone's responses, and finished off her mouthful of grass. "Thank you, Xzander." She sighed, clearly making a point that the rudeness was unnecessary. She nodded toward Helios, grateful for his offer, "Its always best to be suspicious, we don't know much about these humans." Sorrow said to Pandora, and Yinyang.
"I sense they expect a lot from us, to answer their wishes when they are desperate... ridiculous creatures they are." She added, being sure to keep quiet about Panorama's obvious affections toward the large stallion. Mates were more of a controversial subject, considering the lack of choices they had between each other. She tended to keep away from the subject. She shifted on her hooves, taking a few steps toward the valley entrance to sniff at the passing wind. "I would just be mindful." She finished simply, her red eyes trailing back to the others, flicking her tail.

Yinyang

Yinyang scoffed at Xzander, but didn't bother to give her attention to the rude and younger stallion. She instead glanced towards Sorrow with a tired sigh, "Humans may be dangerous and curious creatures... But that doesn't make them stupid. Plus, if you wasted all your time worrying about their silly lives you'll lose your own precious time." The black and white mare has lived long enough to know the humans wouldn't bother them... But then again, they seem to get more bolder as time passes... Maybe one day they'll be bold enough to even take on the "sacred horses" and when that happens she hopes they are ready for it. But until then, Yinyang will enjoy her time as she pleases.

Kal took a long look around, minding his own business. Not one to talk much, he just stuck around, listening close to the conversation around him. Kal's mind processed the thoughts of the other "sacred horses" they had come to be called. Kalahkaari sighed, then lifted his head to try to catch the scent on the wind. He scented nothing interesting, so he just scanned the herd. Kal saw Fangana's fangs glow bright and saw the annoyance on her face. He let himself smile for a bit as she shaked her head and walked over to Sorrow. Kal looked away from the other horses and his smile slowly faded. He went back to thinking about the humans and how bold they have become.

Helios

Xzander's thought often disturbed the dark stag, he seemed to know it all, or at least thought he did and the rude comments that ran through his head often made it to his lips. Helios tried to remain as far from the stallion as he could most days.
Helios whinnied back to the pink mare but continued to graze on, trying not to listen to her thoughts. The three sisters were definitely interesting, but he had always been more of a loner and was pretty awful when attempting to flirt with anyone. Besides, he could read her sister's minds as well and it didn't seem like it would work out well for anyone. At her comment he realized that he had sent his comment to everyone instead of just the black and white mare. That's a little awkward. he thought as he picked up his head and turned towards the sisters. Helios chuckled at Panorama's comment, I don't know if my abilities can be taken that far, I will merely notice their thoughts before they come near. he smiled softly at the mare, after all it wasn't like he could predict their movements, only relay their thoughts.
The large brute felt the awkwardness of the situation rolling off of Sorrow as she mentally pushed the thought of physical attraction and the mare's obvious advances to the side. The brute couldn't help but to smirk, but it quickly disappeared as he realized how sad it actually was that the so called "sacred horses" were so few. There were what, eight in total? Four of each gender. It was almost as if it was set-up for them to pair off. The stallion shivered, for one he didn't favor the idea of pairing off like they were just stock, animals that were only good enough to continue on a species. Secondly, he was by far the oldest being in the meadow and was tired of romance and love, it never turned out the way he hopped no matter how hard he tried.

"The fact that they have been coming here is exactly why they aren't stupid. Let's face it, we have something that 'normal' horses have." Sorrow fretted, and began walking closer to the valley entrance, and for a short moment, she swore she heard the pounding of oncoming horses, a lot of them too. She jerked her head up, her ears flicking forward in alert as her eyes scanned the area frantically. Thanks to the many hills, and little hidden valley paths, it was hard to figure out where the source was coming from. She'd like to say that the sound was simply carrying off from miles away, but her gut was giving her another feeling. "Helios?" She called quickly, and jerked as she heard a loud snort coming from a distance away.
Her power in reading intentions of others was ringing out warning bells in her head. Her ears pinned back against her skull while she stomped at the ground nervously.
