Registering horses in clubs?

#46687 Posted on 2016-06-13 01:22:07

I'm just full of questions today I know haha, just had a thought, is there any actual benefit to registering horses into breed-specific clubs? Either in stats, or showing, otherwise I can't really see the point in the $$$ reg free.

At this point I don't think there is anything other than it helps the club bank gain money which in turn takes the stress off the presidents to pay out on contests

In the future I'm sure it will help with making a difference in the horse itself.

I do think registering the horse also shows to other breeders of that breed who are active within the club that the horse may be worth more money to them if continually kept within club standards.

There really isn't any benefit. I don't think it raises the value of the horse any, either, given that when the club president changes, the new president can change the registration requirements.

Honestly, looking to see if a horse is registered with a club is one of the last things I look at when buying.
