conformation and stat inheritance?

#45687 Posted on 2016-06-08 11:24:28

i know this was discussed at the beginning of the recode, but i was curious if anyone has any results from their projects?

i've just paired up my appies and done a "test" breeding of five pairs to experiment with conformation and stat inheritance. i've recorded stats at time of 'conception' and am going to crunch some numbers once they're born in 5 days :)

so i got super impatient and used a gestation rush on the mare that i was most eager to start showing/training again and the results are...disappointing (with a bright spot!).

i bred this mare to this stallion under the assumption that having all 'goods' would make up for his four poors, or at the very least make sure that the poors that the foal might inherit would be better than its sire's.

they are, but barely. i've listed what the foal actually has, and then in parentheses is the average of the parents stats in that area:

Head: 50.12 (56.5)
Neck: 61.98 (63.5)
Withers: 46.95 (50)
Back: 49.29 (49.5)
Shoulders: 59.15 (57)
Legs 62.94 (60.5)
Knees: 48.27 (53.5)
Hooves: 64.00 (61.5)
Average: 55.34 (56.5)

some are higher most are lower. the average confo is at least better than her father's, so overall its an improvement, but not nearly on the scale i was hoping for :/

and then stats are interesting too. i recorded parent stats at time of conception. listed below are the stats of the foal, and then how much higher they are than expected in all areas

STR: 21 = 10 higher
SPD: 77 = 9 higher
AGI: 76 = 7 higher
INT: 21 = 11 higher
END: 17 = 9 higher
ALL: 212 = 47 higher

obviously the foal's specialization is in show jumping, but weirdly SPD and AGI have less of a "boost" than other non-speciality stats. perhaps this is random? I was hoping for second gens with non-speciality stats of 15 or less, but it seems that might not happen.

i will report back with further findings, and would love if other could share :)

I will watch your results eagerly! I'm trying to stick with my own stores for at least the next two generations... but I also want the confo to increase with each generation. :)
