Phone cases

#45242 Posted on 2016-06-07 08:56:40

Hey all,

My parents and I upgraded to the Samsung GalaxyS7 the other day and my dad got an Otterbox case, but he really wants a camo one which they don't have. I want to buy him one for Father's Day but don't know if I should go generic or name brand. I'm curious what you all would do.

I've found one that looks decent and it's around $15, or I could spend $50 and get him another Otterbox. The only reason I'm hesitating shelling out that much is because it's his first smart phone and he's careful with phones already, so he doesn't need too heavy duty, but phones fall so it still needs to hold up to the accidental drop.

Would you all love him and get the name brand or have you had good experiences with generic? I personally have so far but the S5 spoiled me and was like the Nokia of smart phones, and I don't know about this one lol we do have insurance if that sways your vote.

The generc I'm looking at. Other colors only have 8 reviews but high ratings, and the phone is new so not many people are probably buying this yet.

Losteh! They do make Camo Otterboxs for the Samsung S7 xD You just have to find them online. click here

Personally I like the safety of the otterbox just because they're proven to work. I've been told the S7 is pretty fragile compared to past phones. I've got my S7 in an Otterbox and is doing great. Only thing I hate about otterboxes is they feel bulkier to me, but I'd rather have the protection.

With the insurance, make sure it covers screen damage, as it appears with mine they no longer cover screen damage with the insurance.

Cinch I know they make camo Otterbox cases, I'm choosing between those and generic camo cases. The store itself doesn't sell any camo though is what I meant.

I'm leaning towards Otterbox just because I don't know how fragile these are, but sometimes others work well. I don't know what our insurance covers but we have tempered glass and he has the extra screen cover so he should be fine.

Ohhh ok. Yea, they don't seem to carry anything good in stores for otterboxes. Lol.

I'd say the extra money is worth it for the Otterbox, but also if he isnt constantly in situations that could damage the phone, you could get away with a generic. I was going to, but horses + phones ... yea no thank you. Lol

Haha if he were around animals it'd be a for sure. He works in a factory, but I believe he keeps his phone in his locker. He does do some woodworking etc. in the garage but that would maybe just have some sawdust near it. Probably the worst is he might not clip it on his belt secure enough and it drops. But then I remember it's a $500+ phone that we don't want to buy twice lol

Exactly! I'm doing a lease and so even if I break my phone I'd still have to pay for it still. So yea... it will stay in its otterbox that's for sure! Lol Youd think theyd be making phones less fragile nowadays
