A Proper Introduction!

#33372 Posted on 2016-04-23 13:44:49

Hello, fellow members of Equiverse! The fateful level 3 has come, and thus -- I am here.

My name is Havenesc, or feel free to call me "Haven" as most do.

I am a dressage rider and hyper-realistic art-enthusiast. I live in Southern United States. My house is kind of a zoo (y'know, if zoos only have....three Great Danes and a Border Collie.) I am doing basics before I head to a real uni for a major in Game Design, so that takes up a ton of my time, buuuuut because I am the world's worst procrastinator I MAGICALLY have time to do my digital art things ;)

I have been riding for 15+ years, and own one Appendix QH bay gelding by the name of Fred Estair "Fred/Fredmonster" for short and two little rascal minis -- a black named Moe, and a flaxen chestnut called Lucky. I grew up riding Western and actually working the cattle chutes at a roping barn, but we moved a few hours away in The Great Migration™ and I ended up making the switch to English!

I have had Fred since he was 6 months old (but we purchased him when he was 3 weeks old -- first-time horse owner ignorance, my friends, I do not recommend). He is the first horse we've ever owned, and the only horse that has stayed with us all these years. He'll be 13 at the end of the month! He is my "wonder" horse, as the trainer we were previously with always tried to talk us into selling him since she claimed he had zero potential to get past Training level because of his wonky conformation. We went to a clinic where I met my future (now present) new trainer, and VOILA! In a matter of just 3 years, we started some serious training and now we're debuting 3rd level in the next few months. Moe and Lucky can drive....and they're great at mowing lawns. That's ALL they really do lately.

I've been drawing since I was a tot, and I got a tablet back in...oh, gosh, 2009. And it refused to download the driver, so I remember for 1 1/2 years with zero pen pressure. Yikes. Oh boy. But then THAT tablet busted and I got a new one....and joined a rather famed rpg on dA. Did that for a few years, then veered off the map in favor of tumblr art blogs in 2014. I draw primarily horses, getting better at humans, and any other animal takes a lot of referencing...and praying...and yelling pfft. I think I'm not alone on that front. I definitely would love to share some of my art in the other forum sections! :) Currently have a WIP that I could post for critique, actually.

I can be spotty in activity as I am someone who bites off more than they can chew IRL, so that leaves my schedule pretty strenuous, but the good thing about EV is that it's pretty relaxing and definitely not rocket science, so I'm here for the long haul ;) I admit, I can be a little short with people at times, but it's mostly fatigue and nothing to do with the person. Other than that I'm a pretty chilled out individual. OH -- and I call everyone "Friend," it's just force of habit.

See you all around! Nice to meet you all!
