Need some help reading genes on white horse!

#32844 Posted on 2016-04-21 14:32:26

Hey guys, I have a white horse and I'm having some trouble figuring out what color he is underneath. I've read the genetics guide and looked at horses of different colors to try to find a match, but I'm still not sure about my guy.

These are his genes:
Ee AAt gg CrCr Dd chch FF zz pp stysty rbrb WRn oo Spsp lplp patn1patn1 patn2patn2

I think it's the AAt that's messing me up... I've seen AtAt and Ata, but what does AAt mean? Also, while I'm asking questions - what is FF?

Any genetics genius out there willing to help me out? (:

Edit: This is my best guess... It's a bay base with double cream dilution and dun. This would be perlino dun? The AAt means he is also carrying brown somehow? Is this correct?

Can't guarantee I'm hundred percent right but I think he's a Perlino Dun Splash Roan.

FF is whether a horse has flaxen or not; if a chestnut (or ee) horse has ff, it means their mane is white rather than brown or black.

AAt means the horse is bay but carries brown (if you get AtAt/Ata, you get a Seal Brown horse).

Thank you, I edited my post just as you replied - my guess was actually perlino dun! I figured F would be flaxen, but in the genetics guide that gene is called Fl so it confused me a bit. Thank you :)

Keep in mind flaxen is recessive so you won't have flaxen with FF, but rather ff. It doesn't really sound like you thought it was there but I wanted to make sure lol I think it's either been known previously as flfl or maybe some horses do have it as flfl..they appear to be interchangeable though.
