tbh the more I think about it doesnt the Nu Chex To Cash line carry sooty? Why was it removed from the QHs? I don't see anything against sooty in any official AQHA documentation, only white markings.

Breed: Quarter Horse
Color: Sooty
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed: this dude's an awesome example
Is it disputed by a reputable source? Nope

Breed: Gypsy Vanner
Colour: Sooty
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed:
Pure registered gypsies with these genes:
Duke of Earl
Falcon
Tiger Moth (maybe?)
Moya (interestingly, her sire Thunder looks like a typical seal brown, which gives weight to my theory that seal brown is homozygous/extensive sooty)
Appears to either be very rare and/or easy to hide.
Is it disputed by a reputable source? No.

Breed: Morgan

Color:

Marking: most "paint" markings

Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed: Horse #1 FCR Magic Act AMHA Reg # 180906 (overo and sabino)
http://www.candomorgans.com

^ other Morgan's through them are AMHA registered and approved breeding for their colors and patterns so more than just him

Here is a link directly from AMHA though: High White Rising

Registry input on Color verification: Color Coat "verified"

This Site details most colors found in tested morgans: Morgan Colors specifically linking frame overo

They also have their own Registry (rainbow morgan horse association)

AMHA Guidelines to Registerable Markings (PDF)

AMHA Registry Rules

Is it disputed by a reputable source? not that I can find, in fact everything I find supports the colored Morgans including the registry

Breed: Arabian
Marking: Dominant White
Proof it exists: https://www.arabianhorses.org/.content/aha-docs/Genetics_Coat_Color_Patterns.pdf
Is it disputed by a reputable source? No. It is suspected that all the tested dominant white horses are descended from a single stallion BUT is not impossible that the gene exists in other lines

Breed: Arabian
Color: Brown
Proof it exists: http://www.arabianrun.com/arguide.htm
Is it disputed by a reputable source? Yes. Purebred arabians can't be registered as brown, but it's argued that the term 'black bay' is essentially brown, and the inheritance pattern is identical to brown. So this color suggestion is definitely more debatable :P

Breed: Morgan.
Color: Brown and its derivatives (cream, dun, and silver).
Proof it exists: Okan Storm King, stallion
GLB Bell of the Ball, mare
Small Acres Rendevous, mare

In addition, the American Morgan Horse Association allows horses to be registered as brown. Morgan Horse Colors has pictures and names of several brown horses, as well as dilutes in the dilute section.

Is it disputed by a reputable source? Not to the best of my knowledge, no.

Breed:TWH
Color: sooty gene
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed: (e.g. links to studies, to a widely known registry which states it's accepted, etc.)
He's Black Hills Gold

TWH mare out of Trip my Trigger

Article saying how a color ranges from normal to sooty

And Another

Is it disputed by a reputable source? Some are.

I haven't SEEN any sooty walkers on the game or seen it as an option in the customize menu, but I've seen several IRL and love the gene.

Essentially sooty should be available for ALL breeds, since pretty much any horse can be affected by it as far as we know (aside from breeds that were bred specifically to be a particular color).

Rose gray isn't a color. It's just what happens when a horse with a red/bay base grays out. Same for fleabitten.

Ermine marks aren't significant enough to be counted imho. I think Abbey is only wanting markings that are affected by the genotype we already have.
