I bought an F2 stallion from the RC for breeding (who will be 17 in 2 days time) and was fairly happy with it though missed a vital component for the betterment of the foals to be produced.  His level is only N1.  Surely just caring for him over those years should have raised the level.  (I know the parents factor into this & he was foaled when dam was 3 but I would like to disregard those variants).  Please can someone explain a reason of how this can happen.  

Whoowho! changed his name, just fed him again & with a treat and level changed to N2.

Levels are based on the amount of stats a horse has, nothing else. It just determines what shows you enter.
