Please Dont Drink and Drive....

#114024 Posted on 2017-07-13 11:41:08

I have had the worst few weeks possible, and the following will explain my sudden absence...

Just before the July 4th weekend (I am a USA peep) my parents and I got a horrific call that my beloved cousin had been in a life threatening accident and was in extremely bad condition in the ICU down in Florida. We flew down to Florida the next day leaving my animals and house in the hands of my boyfriend. My cousin was hit by a drunk driver at an intersection at a very high speed, crashing into her. The drunk driver was dead on the scene. My cousin was unconscious and the doctors told us she had a broken cheek, broken back, broken tail bone and left ankle, broken left hand and other small fractures along her ribs. The fact that she was alive was a miracle. My family is extremely close to one another. We are a large family with the closest bond a family could have and I love all my cousins as thought they were my siblings, and seeing my newly married cousin laying on a hospital bed was the most frightening thing....
With Gods good will she woke up three days later and remarkably had NO internal bleeding or any other severe problems of any kind, just almost 25 broken bones. She could talk to us better and better each day.
I tried to post the images of the cars involved however EV doesnt seem to like it...

The fact my cousin is alive is none short of a miracle, and I couldnt be more thankful shes still with us. Im sure I am not the only one on this game who has lost a loved one from a drunk driver. Six years ago my cousin Karina has killed after also being involved in a drunk driving accident, and two years ago I lost my uncle to a drunk driver (also with no license) who hit him and my cousin Heather on their motorcycle, killing him and injuring her. I am in tears typing this thinking of them... I also can help but feel as though that woman who died in this accident got what she deserved. I am tired of drunk drivers taking my loved ones away from my family and causing every single one of us pain. So please, whatever country to reside in, never get behind the wheel after drinking....

I was down in Florida for over a week and came home to more drama....

While we were away a thunderstorm had moved through a few days before we landed home my boyfriend called and said lighting hit my neighbors house. While they are all ok and the house did not burst into flames, the strike had destroyed their electrical units and also some of mine. My house's wires are underground the the bolt of lighting traveled through the wires into my house. It burnt all three of our flat screen tvs and crashed my laptop and our desktop computer. We were forced to have a computer doctor come and revive them. We lost many photos and memories on our desktop computer and my laptop required me to download everything all over again. Thankfully I keep all my photos and artwork on a harddrive.

And now, after all this has calmed down, my horse is acting colicy and now I am waiting for whatever gas issue hes having to pass. Can this all stop? Please?

I am so sorry for you. Words cannot be used to say how much I sympathize. I know how it feels to lose family members. I'll be praying, if you'd like.

I'm really sorry. I haven't had the best week either, it was the worst of my life because of many things including family problems. Just keep your head up, even though you may not feel like it and instead you feel like life's a mess, life is a mess at times, but it really does get better, whether it's days, months, or sometimes even years. If you ever want to talk, know that I'm here for you. If you don't want to talk, just know that I'm here and while all situations are different, I know what pain is. Know that I'm praying for you and your family ♥

When my mom was a teenager, one of her friends was hit and killed by a drunk driver, whose only injury was a broken toe. My mother, to this day, has never drunk (???) alcohol and uses this story (too often) as a cautionary tale to my siblings and I.

There was also an event at my school where a couple students were "killed" by a drunk driver and it started with a guy dressed as the Grim Reaper taking them out of class and a police officer told us what was going on and that the student was dead and some counselors came in and told us that we could talk to them if we needed to. Then they had all of the students go to the football field where we all watched a fake drunk driver incident complete with firefighters, ambulances, a hearse, police, and a fake 911 call. Not gonna lie, it was very disturbing to listen to the emergency responders describe to each other what was going on. There were people who were dead on arrival and they had to pull someone out of the car from the opposite side because their side couldn't be opened. Then we had a fake funeral where a woman talked about how her son was hit and killed by a drunk driver when he was on the side of the highway after his friend's car broke down. Turns out the guy hit her son (who was a teenager) so hard that his shoe flew off and was found on the opposite side of the road. Some of the "dead" kids wrote letters to their parents about what they wish they could've told them and I almost cried on multiple occasions. I was sitting next to one girl who broke down in the middle of the "funeral" and my friend and I had to comfort her. It was heartbreaking to listen to the parents and especially when the people speaking had to pause to keep from crying.

I hope that your cousin has a speedy recovery and I hope that she's doing much better as of now.
