Interest Check: BLM-esque mustang club?

#227966 Posted on 2020-09-22 01:22:53

With the new listening session on Clubs coming up, I figured I would pitch this because the logistics/community aspect sound quite fun!

I've always wanted to compete in a mustang millions / tip challenge event but at this point it's not realistic for me to endeavor in. But I do love mustangs and I would love to see if something similar would be able to be realized in game C: I figured not only would it promote a breed, but also be a source of fun/friendly competition.

The general idea:
> Mustangs could be pulled from the EC (probably 1/2 year olds) and then bid on by club members (probably through marketplace listings) to simulate the online corral bidding system.
> Competitors then have until (insert age) to train and compete them on their respective disciplines
> At set date horses are all tallied and then whoever has highest (insert metric) would win prizes, etc. And of course participation prizes would be awarded as well

Alternatively: Could pull 24 foundies (2x2 pairs for each discipline) and then either use the resulting G2 foals for the competition, that way it would be a little less variation stat wise.
- or do like small 'foundation herds' where there is 1 foundation stallion per discipline that would have 2-5 mares per group, to give it more of an actual 'mustang herd' feel.

Challenges:
> In theory the competition would run for 1-3 months, might be hard to keep everything consistent (but that's how it would be irl too I guess)
> Long duration means drop outs are a possibility.
> Quality control for foal pulls would be varied, some disciplines have tougher competition to start in that others. Would have to implement NSS cap per discipline (probably 55-57). Confirmation would not used as a grading metric.
> If opting to used G2s from foundation groups, it would take quite a while to prep, and each group would need to be refreshed after 1-2 competition runs to give people more options to breed out if they so desired.

Vague rules:
> No brood/stud while competition runs?
> No coat/colour alterations during competition?

Other thoughts:
> Perhaps bi-weekly writing prompts to write about your mustangs training, to give it an RPG feel.
> Maybe choose a specific discipline per competition run, might make it easier for starting out in some disciplines.
> Maybe foal pulls could get small write ups for their bids, maybe make a faux branding/herd system from where they come from, etc.
> [5/5] Tack can be provided from club?

But I'd love to hear feedback! It was just a fun thought that popped up C: And I also really like the potential this has if enough people would be interested.

I don't breed mustangs, but this sounds like an interest training contest concept that I could get on board with.

You could post something like this in the suggestion section but for all breeds, maybe it could rotate through one breed at a time. It could give you an idea of whose interested. It also might be easier to set up site-wide instead of through individual club(s). Just a suggestion of course. :)
