I really like the sponsoring new breeders idea... I'm not really sure how it works either though...

I'd love to enter the raise a Foundation Contest if it happens, if we get to pick the gender I'd like a mare :)

Unfortunately I can't see how sponsoring new breeders with money or horses is going to get us new, long term breeders. The issue is as already stated, - the breed is gray. Either you have to like the breed in general, like grays or you have to be able to afford to customize or buy a bunch from the EC to get colored ones.
For most players they are boring when there are so many other colorful options.

Regarding contests, I never participate in any contests due to lack of time. That and I already have 200+ horses to care for every day, I don't need another pair just for a contest. If we could enter our own horses in stat-raising contests instead of foundations, I'd be much more likely to enter.

What if we had some sort of breeder incentives? Like, if you get x amount of horses to x stats or x conformation or x combination you'll get x reward. There would be different levels of achievement, the first level might get you some EVD, the next some EVD and a breeding to a top stallion, etc. As you get higher and higher you could get things like EVD, artsy things, foals, etc. I'd be happy to contribute all the mentioned items.

It might appeal to more people since it's not an only one person wins sort of thing. If everyone works hard, they'll be rewarded and we'll be rewarded with more breeding stock.

Sponsoring a new breeder!

Have the Lipizzaner Club provide a breeding pair to the new breeder.
- set reasonable goals with a (reasonable) monetary reward as each goal is accomplished

- as a reward for one of the goals, I would be willing to give them a custom pairing from my lines

Add this to a section on the Club layout as an "advertisement" to the new breeders.

Well, Dratini basically said what I'm thinking. Getting people to start this breed is like.. um, beating a dead horse?... ya.

So as much as I want more people to breed Lippys, and want people to be more active I can't expect it to change even if we tried everything mentioned. Clubs have no game value at this moment(in my view). It's just kinda fun to have a registry, but that pretty much it! Again, like Dratini said people come to focus on their herd of horses, and tend to not have much time left over for contest or anything that is not going to improve their breeding program.

so... Sponsoring a breeder is something I'm not going to try and do. I don't get it, and really don't think it's needed. If someone wants to try, good luck!

Now Alchemy, I like your idea of breeder incentives, and I too would happily offer up horse dollars, and art for excellence within the breed. I'll have to do some brainstorming, but feel free to message me with more input too

I'm all for the breeder incentives, and maybe prizes like color applicators or new horses of alternative varieties (i.e. chestnut, bay, black) for contests might not hurt...then people get some more interesting variety. :)

Ok! so I think for a contest we shall do a better your own herd contest. I get that people don't want to put time, money, and effort into a random EV center horse.

So yes lets better our own horses!!
I'll be posting the contest info on the clubs page sometime within the next day or so.

Breeder incentives are coming too!

If we use horses as incentives or rewards, I have 4 young ones that I've been trying to sell I'd be willing to contribute. Once I start breeding again I'll have more, I try to only keep the 1st and last foals of a mare so I don't own more than I can take care of. Sadly I'm about to enter a very slow/inactive period because of college. :/
