Has anyone taken a vacation in this area before?

We are taking our first real vacation as a family, and actually my first real vacation with my kids in August. We are staying in a cabin at the Jellystone Campround for 7 nights. I am so beyond excited. We really wanted to go in June or July but there arent any cabins available for the length of time we want to stay that wouldn't interfere with my youngest son's vacations and weekends with his dad. So, this should be awesome as well I hope.

We already have planned to go to the Ripley Aquarium, Titanic Museum, Hatfield-McCoy dinner and show, and hope to do some hiking. There are just so many things to do down there that we aren't sure which others to pick. Dollywood will have to wait until another time because one day would be $465 for the 5 of us to go. So that one is out.

Has anyone vacationed in that area or familiar enough with it to make any recommendations? Our kids are 12, 10, and 7.

I am just so excited. We have done more local camping trips before with the kids a couple of days and gone up to Wisconsin Dells for a few days or visited my parents when they lived out of state but have never taken them on a real 1 week vacation filled with loads of activities and fun like this.

It's awesome!!!! That's my home away from home. You totally need to drive the Loop at Cade's Cove. You can see all different kinds of animals, including Black Bears! Hmmmm.... Maybe I will try to get up there at the same time to meet up with you and your family. 😉

Oooo that sounds really similar to my family's trip to Gatlinburg years ago! We visited most of the same places and I think my age was around the same as your childrens' age too! ♥
If I remember correctly there's a show called the Comedy Barn? It's meant to be family friendly and has lots of funny skits and little performances by trained animals, I think I remember a bit where they asked all the children in the audience if they'd like to line up on stage and then they had a little dog run up a ramp and jump over all of them at once XD It was maybe a decade ago, so I can't really say if the show's still just as entertaining as back then but I thought I'd throw it in there ♥

Feather, that would be awesome! Should definitely see if we could work something like that out :)

Bubbles, that sounds like fun, maybe I will try and see if I can google it by your description.

I've stayed before, it's SUPER nice there.  I especially loved doing hiking trails and looking at all of the old cabins and architecture there.

I have stayed in Pigeon Forge cabins for long weekends with friends for drunken debauchery twice. It is definitely a good time, and although our group wasn't doing family stuff, there is a TON of fun stuff for kids around to do. It should be a great time. Bring money. Lol. :) My husband reminded me too though, to mind what stores you go in. Some of them are "Katanas & Adult Fun 'R Us"
