I figured that this would be something fun to do and also a good way for me to get to know some of the amazing and incredible people on equiverse! I just want to know what everyone likes to do with their horses! As many of you know, if you’ve read my stable page you will know that I own a stunning chestnut gelding that’s 17 hands and his name is Leroy!❤️ Leroy and I are partners in crime, the things we do together are pretty funny I must say! Not to mention we are super clumsy!! Leroy loves to barrel race but he loves to jump!!! Leroy is also superrr protective over me, he does not like when any other horse comes near me! He will come charging with his ears pinned back! And he gives me a nuzzle and wraps his neck around me to give me a hug!!❤️ I love Leroy so much!!

Oh wow where to begin haha. I have a first generation North American Spotted Haflinger named Apache Night Hawke (or just Hawke) who's always either the barn favorite or the outcast. He has separation anxiety and we think he was weaned/ broken too early and gelded a little late. If you get to know him, he's a huge sweetheart. However, if you expect respect from him without having proved to him that you deserve it, sorry, you ain't gonna get it lol. We both would love to jump, and he definitely has it in him; he just doesn't quite have the confidence right now. You can tell he wants to though. Also, once we sort out some problems caused by one of his buddies, we want to try doing liberty. He's a bit of a one person horse, and I'm that one person. He's my baby ♥  He does some tricks (smile, talk, hug, touch) and is heckin smart. He's great to ride if we're doing something interesting like trail riding, however, when he's bored, you'll know.

I don't own a horse but I loan which in this case means they are mine until I say otherwise and no one rides them without my permission. I loan a 17hh black and white paint mare named Diamond and a white flea bitten pony named Pixie. Diamond loves to canter and gallop and we love trail rides if I dont let her run when I ride she gets antsy and stops obeying commands. Her gaits are all super smooth and she likes sugar cubes best. She is the first horse I ever connected with and I love her. Pixie is a typical pony very sassy but a a surprisingly smooth gaited pony. She gets bratty at any given time but is such a sweetheart. I am hoping to buy them when I can afford it.

My horse prefers sour candy canes, grapefruit, and bananas to the typical apples, carrots, and cookies. He is strange. This is all I have to report.

I've got 13.2hh Dartmoor Hill Pony. He was rescued from slaughter when in the annual drift sales. We've trained him ourselves, I've owned him for 7 years now and he is amazing. He picks up his bucket, bows and kisses. He's so lovely and I'm really lucky to have him. He's definitely not the easiest pony! I love the sound of all your horses/ponies! Roley also likes ginger biscuits and spicy doritos!

SADDIE BUT GOODIE

I gave up riding. I gave up my horses. I don't think about it often.
But, when I do, I think about Peppy. That horse deserved the absolute world and all she got was me.

Peppy is kind, sensitive and gentle. Incredibly intelligent and so obedient. A dream to ride and to love. She likes carrots and bananas and neck scratches and eating her grain painfully slow.

Previous horse owner here.

My first mare, Aerial, was an Appendix QH, registered breeding stock paint (reg. Name BOBBYSWESTERNSPOOK).. She was AMAZING. Red dun, super fun/quick jumper, safest trail horse ever. Her show name was Balenciaga, we competed in Southern California for a few years before she retired. Now she’s a therapeutic horse at a center. I laugh at her registered name because there wasn’t a thing that could spook her.

Second horse was supposed to be my “national” competitive Hunter/equitation horse. Bay gelding with black legs, his name was Mac, jockey club reg. as Machiatto. He raced and won a bit in France, so they imported him. He ended up fracturing a knee and retired from racing. Lots of fun for the first while, then turned in to a complete terror. I ended up getting tossed one day(after being dumped on fences for over a year), handed the reins to me trainer, and haven’t seen him since. I know he’s a pasture puff somewhere. Pretty is as pretty does. His show name was McLovin.

I had a horse when i was younger so here is the story

My dad was a country man. Loved animals(that where i get it), we had horses, cows, chickens. So, over the years, we sold down to two horses. When my dad died when i was five, we had those two horses left. His favorite was our paint mare(i called her mine, but technically i didn't own her). And we also had a seal brown Tennessee walking gelding. The paint mare was Cheyanne. So, Cheyanne was SO protective of me. When i was 6, i would climb up the gate and hop on her bareback. She wouldn't go faster than a walk because she knew i would probably fall off. But with my mom she would do what my mom wanted. So, anyways, one day, the Tennessee walking gelding, Rambo, i was putting food into the feed bin. Rambo was on the other side of the field. Cheyanne was standing beside me, waiting patiently, and Rambo decides to charge. Cheyanne, like i said, was very protective. She jumped in front of him before he got to me. He threw Cheyanne on the ground, and they were best friends. Cheyanne fought him off and he never charged again.

When my brother was like three, he came up to the field with me to see the horses. Cheyanne saw him and perked her ears up. I told her to be gentle. And she wouldn't move when he was around her. She let him pet her and everything.

There were a bunch of shade trees out in the fields we had, so, one day a branch fell off. Cheyanne LOVED to jump. So, i put a halter and lead rope on and walked her over the tree limb. She absolutely loved it. So, i took the halter off and ran in front(kinda beside her) and she followed me over the jump. I got on her back and went over the jump. Ever since that day i have wanted to learn to jump.

We have a hug pond beside their main pasture. Cheyanne LOVED the water! My mom knew how gentle she was, so she lets us go into the pond one day. Cheyanne plunged in, we were bareback. We went swimming in the pond. It was so much fun!

Cheyanne was the best horse! She was so easy to control, a fast learner and her gaits were amazing! I remember one day my mom asked if i wanted to switch Cheyanne back to the big pasture after the grass had grown up. When i took off her halter, she took of at a full gallop with her tail cocked up.

When i was 7, my mom sold the horses. So, i don't have any horses to ride whenever i want now. My cousin does have a horse, so, i go over there and ride all the time.

I would spend all day just grooming Cheyanne and playing with her.  I miss her so much :(

ahh it's so fun reading about other peoples' horses

I use to own a morab gelding named Coco. My parents got him for me when I was 12(he was 12 too!! haha) so that both my sister and I could each have our own horses. He was amazing. He literally taught me everything about riding haha. I did my first cantering, galloping, jumping, trail rides, etc. with him. His favourite was definitely trail rides, he loved being the leader, but the "scary" bridges with only rails on one side were a bit much for him hahah once he went over it once though he was good. I took him down to our creek when I could too and he LOVED jumping over the creek (which annoyed the crap out of me because there was always a low hanging branch he would practically ram me into hahah). But he was a super safe horse. I never fell off of him, even barebacking. He'd know to stop if he felt like I was losing my balance lol. He also didn't really like using bits so I bought him a bright purple bitless bridle haha. I honestly have no idea why more people don't do bitless! He loved it.
He was definitely a big push over compared to my sister's horse. Unfortunately, almost two years ago I had to have him put down due to cancer. He was 24. I still miss him dearly, but hope to one day get another horse. It's just hard to get another, knowing it wont be anything like Coco.

anywho, here's a photo of him being an arab-y goof ball lol

These guys belong to my grandparents but they are our family's, if you know what I mean.

This is Shadow and also one of my absolute favorite pictures of her. Looking at it you would never know that when she came to us she was a rescue who had to have her mane and tail almost completely shaved off due to cow poop being all over her along with just general neglect, which also included her hooves needing work. My grandmother's brother-in-law found her tied up in a barn behind some cows and the guy who had her just didn't care about her. Sounds like he got saddled with someone else's unwanted horse that he also didn't want (not excusing him for the way he treated her at all, just backstory) and told my Uncle that he could just take her if he wanted. He did and was the one that cleaned her up/shaved her, but he wasn't able to keep her. So he called my grandmother, who had heard about her only and been told she was a mini that was just a bit bigger then the boys (lol) and had told him that if he ended up needing someone to take her to let her know.

They had been calling her Beauty (which I was all for keeping because, I love the story Black Beauty xD), but my grandmother wanted to rename her to distance Shadow even further from the abuse she had gone through, and so Shadow became her name. Besides the obvious neglect, she was extremely terrified around men and would not let you get close to her head or her left side (it could have been the right side, as you can tell she has become more comfortable with us over the years and so I can't recall for sure anymore XD) but she was thankfully healthy, though needing to gain weight.

She is the sweetest thing and while she is still cautious, she is very brave. The other day a lady came to the house who had a young daughter (I would estimate between 4-5) and when the little girl held out her hand, Shadow carefully lowered her head and sniffed it ♥ It's wonderful seeing the progress she has made. My grandfather is her favorite person these days, she picks her feet up like a dream (unless its my grandmother because she knows she can get away with planting her feet with her XD), she will let you walk on either side of her without too much fuss these days and only when you go for the ear section of her head will she still toss her head in a nervous way. Unless of course you have her halter XD That she will help you put on XD

Arnie (left) and Chance (right). Arnie was bought from a breeder who we had bought a mini dwarf horse from the year before. Sadly Karrie, the mini dwarf, had to be put to sleep as her legs which had finally been starting to straighten out started deteriorating in the knee and the vet said there was nothing they could do for her. The breeder, who we were friends with, felt bad about the loss of Karrie and gave my grandparents a discount on Arnie. His mama was called Madame Hearts, as she had a heart shape on her back, which Arnie actually shared with her until he got pudgy. He is short, fat and proud of that XD If I recall correctly, Arnie and Karrie shared the same father, but it might be Chance and Karrie who did. I'm not as well versed on the dad's as I am on the mamas XD Chance I can't recall either parent as, well I'll explain that in a minute. Fun fact, the same breeder, whose barn was called Tiz’ a Miniature Horse Farm, also bred Einstein! I need to check with my grandmother because I believe one of the babies share the same father as him and if I was to guess anyone I would say Karrie, because I remember thinking something about dwarfs running in the line, but I could be wrong.

Arnie is the oldest out of him and Chance, but he is also the shortest and has the girliest cry you ever heard. Shadow likes to corner him and he squeals every time XD Arnie knows how to shake and give kisses, but he also knows how to open stall doors and we've had to Arnie proof the feed room several different ways XD He loves his dish that he gets his grain in so much that he will roll with it when he is done (or almost done in some cases XD). He also has the cutest little under-bite ♥

Now as I said earlier, Chance I don't know his mama off the top of my head as well. That's because Arnie we went to visit several times when he was still with his breeder and of course he was with his mama so we learned her name. Chance, however, we got later that year. He is a month younger, roughly, than Arnie (Arnie was born in March and Chance in April) and so I don't even really remember seeing him the same pasture as Arnie was. Chance was returned by the people who bought him because they didn't like his color (or at least that was the excuse they gave for returning him). My grandparents used to take Arnie to get his hooves trimmed by the breeder and one of the visits she mentioned him and thus we got Chance xD I don't even know how many times people have stopped when they see us walking these guys (and Karrie too) and said ooh I wondered what kind of dog that was XD

Chance also knows how to shake and gives kisses. He loves to use your knees as a scratching post and if you scratch his chest, you will have a best friend forever and a day XD He injured his back one winter when he slipped on the ice, but it hasn't slowed him down one bit. He is a sweetheart who loves to be cuddled ♥

Arnie is named after my grandfather (his middle name is Arnold) and Chance got his name because we took a chance on him.

And this is Karrie, the horse who started it all for us. Her mama's name was Razzmatazz, but everyone just called her Razz. Karrie, as I mentioned, was a Miniature Horse who was a dwarf. Her front legs bowed outwards, but at the end they were nearly straight, thanks to corrective trimming. She was so small, never got much bigger then when this picture was taken on our first visit with her, that anytime they needed to take her to get her feet done, my grandparents would let her sit in the truck with them. She was mischievous and loved to try things, so during her short life she got to eat things like hamburgers (grabbed it out of my grandmother's hand on one of the road trips) and coffee (drank it from my grandfather's cup on a road trip), her favorite treat was a Popsicle though. She really lived it up in her short life, she was such a sweetie. She was named after a lady my great grandmother took care of, who basically became like another grandmother to my mom and her brother.

Well that's everyone that we own(ed) in my family XD But there is one more horse I have to talk about.

This is Patches, horse of my heart. I haven't been able to see him in six years, but if the old man (which is what he was called when I was riding him at 10, so he was probably about 8 then XD) is still around he would be 26 years old. He had bad arthritis though, so I'm not sure if it suddenly got worse to the point that it would be to painful for him, but hopefully I'll get a chance to stop in and see him and my old instructor again one day soon. I always made him promise me that if he were to ever get rid of Patches he had to let me have first dibs, but we also don't have contact info. However, he did promise (and held up that promise) for years, so I doubt he would do so if he was able to keep him. Patches is a favorite of his too. He is what I called, as a ten year old, a gentle giant. He was the tallest horse there, but I don't know his height so I can't tell you that :P Patient and kind, he was on the lower tier of his herd along with a retired racehorse named Don (which is how I spelled his name as a kid. Adult me wonders if it was Dawn...), who was another favorite mount of mine. They seemed to be buddies, in the sense that where one was, the other usually was there too.

He was a good teacher and gosh do I love that horse. If he was offered to me now I would take him in a heartbeat ♥ Patches was retired from riding when he was 20, because of the arthritis I mentioned, but I wouldn't mind just hanging out with him ♥
