Have you ever seen this?

Hubby and I were outside, enjoying the afternoon with our dogs and our wonderful baby girl when he called my attention to this...



I thought that this was pretty neat so figured I'd share!    :)    It is kind of gross but I am so intrigued! Is anyone else intrigued by this or am I just a nut who needs to get out from under my rock more often?

(I thought there was a post for random things like this somewhere in the forums but after spending a half hour looking, I decided to just post it by its lonesome.)

I actually had a pet praying mantis when I was growing up. I had a brown one named blossom and s green one with red spikes named fiesty. Blossom was saved from death in the winter becuase she almost starved and fiesty was saved from elementary school kids trying to poke him with a pin.

i have a little (like 1 inch long) Carolina mantis i found on my tomato plant. I brought her inside to munch on the fungus gnats that live in my terrariums, and once she get those taken care of I plan on putting her back outside :) 

Mantids are seriously so cool. There's a mind-boggling amount out there and some are absolutely stunning.
