Fidelitatus (RP)

Here in New Pennsylvania, two groups of opposing ideals split the area. You have chosen your side and joined the corresponding academy, where you will graduate in your profession and move on to help your organization. (Further description here, it's not great but you'll catch on)

Tesla
"This week I want to try the liquid fire again," Tesla said as she and Kegan headed back to the lab from lunch. Kegan emphatically shook his head. "Absolutely not! Last time, you were in there for twelve hours. And I was stuck in there with you." "Yes, but-" "Didn't it almost explode about ten times?" Kegan added, ignoring Tesla's annoyed huff. "I'm vetoing this one, young lady." Tesla rolled her eyes. "Veto away, glorified babysitter. As I was saying," she said as she gave Kegan a pointed look, which he returned, "I want to try it again before the Permanence kids come and interrupt me for a week." The group's name was spoken with disgust - Tesla didn't pretend to tolerate the week long bi-monthly visits each organization was required to make on both sides. They only got in the way. Kegan pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "Fine. But only if you're extra nice when they come." "What?" she said, outraged. "You can't just - no. Absolutely not. I'm not doing it." Tess crossed her arms and stuck her nose in the air. Kegan shrugged. "Then I guess there's no experiment," he said with a parental tone. 

Nik
He sipped a cheap McDonald's coffee as he walked down the hall of the school, having just finished lunch. He could have eaten there, but he needed caffeine if he was going to make it through the rest of the day. Staying up late doing research* for his one acting class had not been his best idea. He turned a bend and heading away from him were two somewhat familiar figures, discussing something unknown to Nik considering he was not within hearing distance. He sped up a bit and, upon getting closer, splattered a big grin across his face. "Hey, Tess! What's up?" He planted his elbow on top of her head, just because he could. He didn't know very many people shorter than him. 

*he watched a few movies that may or may not be unrelated to the class

Tesla
"Aagh!" Tess exclaimed as Nik's arm came down on her head. It wasn't painful, just painfully annoying. "Why I need liquid fire? Exhibit A," she said as she shoved his arm away. "And some others. But mainly this one." Kegan just gave her his dad look. "What did we say about lighting Nik on fire, Tess?" The girl huffed. "You said not to, but clearly it is necessary." 

Nik
"I vote for not lighting Nik on fire." Nik took a sip of his fancy-sounding coffee with a somewhat cheap taste. "Besides, you know you love me. Who else would you test your concerning experiments on?" While he hadn't ever been the subject of any of Tesla's tests (yet), he wouldn't put it past her. He wasn't sure on school policy about it, for starters, and he was pretty sure Tess would rather die than let him into the lab. To be fair, he probably should stay out of it. He wouldn't want to get chemicals or anything on his clothes. Plus Nik would probably accidentally mess something up, but that wasn't as major a reason as the safety of his clothing in his mind.

"Your vote doesn't count," Tesla grumbled. "And, no, I don't, and if you step foot in my lab I will give you my recently reengineered plague. Perhaps in your beloved coffee." Tesla was interrupted by the sound of Kegan's furious ahem. "What'syour problem?" she said, looking him up and down. "You failed to mention this 'reengineered plague," young lady," he said. Tesla shrugged. "Well, yeah, it's kind of probably illegal. But I was bored, so..."

Nik
"If my vote doesn't count, neither should yours," Nik complained, choosing to tactfully ignore the side discussion about the 'reengineered plague.' That sounded like something he didn't want to get involved in. "Anyway, didn't you already try liquid fire? I thought it didn't go well last time." 

Tesla 
Tess ignored a now-very-annoyed Kegan as she answered. "Well, I mean, it went well enough. What I wanted to do with it didn't quite work out exactly how I hoped it would."

Nik
"I'm sure you'll figure it out. Unless what you wanted to do was 'catch Nik on fire,' in which case, no nope it's impossible liquid fire is not going to work." Nik looked around Tesla over at Kegan, holding his drink out as way of offering a sip. "McDonald's coffee? You look stressed. Sugar's good for that, you know." 

Kegan
"I'm good. A thousand coffees couldn't save me from this one," he said, jerking his head at Tesla, who nodded in agreement. "He's right - the caffeine would kill him before it worked. Or I would. One of the two. And, if you were wondering, lava bullets."

Nik
"More for me, then," Nik replied with a shrug, taking a drink to accentuate his statement. He glanced at a clock in the hallway, displaying the time in red lettering. He still had a couple minutes if he walked faster than usual. "Wait, I forgot about lava. Isn't that just liquid fire already?" 

Tesla
Tesla made a so-so motion with her hand. "Well, yes, but this is special - chemically made. One of my favorites, actually, next to my custom physics-benders."

Rawiya
Rawiya walked quickly down the hall, trying to hold onto both Guntra and her books without letting neither slip. Her backpack had broken yet again, and she still hadn't had time to fix it. 
Guntra babbled a few words in a mixture of three languages---Arabic, Latvian, and English.
"Come on, honey, please be good for me today." She whispered to her daughter. "No crying like last time."
