Cross-Country Discipline

#200691 Posted on 2019-02-23 11:43:02

So i dont really know if somebody has already brought up this idea but if somebody has please let me know! : )

We have all the riding disciplines except one, Cross-Country. And i would love it if this were added to the game, cause i know many people that rides the cross-country discipline (including me) that plays Equiverse. So please support this idea if you would love to see cross-country tack, training, shows, ect.

No support. There are countless disciplines not seen here on EV, especially western-based disciplines. More disciplines are unnecessary and potentially even more detrimental to EV's already struggling economy. If there ever were to be another discipline, it should be a western discipline though, not another english one.

I support this idea.
It would be nice to see ANY new specialty added to EV, regardless if it is english or western based.
I understand the concerns that are felt. However, In my personal opinion, adding new specialties may muddy up the water a little, but i don’t feel this would harm the (economy).
There are some stat cobinations that are unused, and lead to many horses sent to the rescue, or simply culled because their stats don’t fit any specialty.

These seam to be common stat combinations that need some use.

Strength and speed.
Strength and agility.
Strength and int.
Endurance and agility.

Just going to note that I am not suggesting that these be added, just that if every combo had a discipline these are what I think would work best.

See, endurance and agility would be perfect XC, and I was thinking Roping for Strength and Agility, Maybe Vaulting or something like that for Strength and Intelligence. I thought at first Cart Racing or Harness Racing for Strength and Speed, but we already have Driving, so I'm stumped :p

Why not look up horse disciplines? In my rp, Bridges Pole character's, one or two character's are making their own discipline based around the original but quite fun and easy to handle, or just random and still fun!

I think Tyler or Jacob have the new discipline in my rp, Tyler and Jacob are both my characters that I include into my rp along with my other characters, so you can also use my character's as a reference point for a new discipline!

If you wanted too that is.. You don't have too!

Not really a discipline but the best I could find was Ghymkanas, so yeah :p I guess it fits, for jumping and other horse games, like pole bending and(more of a western one) the keyhole race.
If you haven't heard of it(bc it's not super common anymore) it's a large keyhole design on the ground, you gallop your horse through the bottom part of it and do a sliding stop in the circle and try to go as far as possible while sliding. Not sure if it's the same now but that's how I remember it. My mom had a horse who was great at it :)

I have heard of different keyhole races but this one is my favorite :3

Ah thanks and Ghymkanas sounds quite interesting, I might look that up as well, ah thank you Kali for the information, you are great as always as well!

And hope that you like the Ghymkanas, even though it's not quite a discipline, though if it was revived maybe it would be considered a discipline!

But that's another story really, and another story is just as interesting as weaving your own path and book, which is now, but I don't know if my quote helps with that.. Sorry..

I love doing them, my boi Spirit is great♥
I wonder if it could classify as a discipline, but they vary between who's running them, so idk :P

I like your quote, it's very lovely♥

Good, you have a wonderful horse then!
Ah yeah, I forgot that people run them, heheh..

And thanks for my quote, but I think you could be better then me, I just did it for some reason, maybe it was random? Who knows really!

And speaking of Spirit, there's this mare that I have that's named Spirit, I could link her to here so that you can see her! I remember she's a buckskin, I think I named her Spirit since she reminds me of Spirit, and of course your horse's lovely name as well!

If you want to have a conversation please take it to PMs, it is getting off-track of the suggestion post itself.

Gymkhana is actual what I used to do. It’s a type of western competition that includes barrel racing, fox and hound, pole bending, trail, key hole, single barrel, and some other things. I did it for about 2 years before I moved out of state, but it’s not much of a discipline. More of a type of competition. I was just in a gymkhana club.

But adding in any new discipline won’t really help any. Players would have to change their herds (if they wished) which would be a lot of work. Plus if there were to be a new discipline it would be a western one. Western riding isn’t a discipline it’s a type of riding. But there are hundreds of different disciplines.

Yeah, if we add more disciplines it'll be really hard for breeders of specific breeds and disciplines, maybe if, in the next major update whenever that may be in the distant future, we could replace the english disciplines with Eventing so nothing is lost, but it's like Western, so we can go from 6 to 4 disciplines to make the markets cleaner.

btw Horsegirl can you PM me about the Gymkhana games? I've never heard of some of those and now I'm intrigued :3
