It's a start!

#184511 Posted on 2018-08-14 19:13:33

I know this is super random but I'm excited about it. I few months ago I got quite a few foundation Quarter Horses to play around with and see if I could advance their conformation through breeding them to each other and no other outside horses. Well I got super impatient and bored (been sick the last several days) last night and I decided to breed them. Well I was super excited because 2 of my 6 bred foals ended up with .27 and 1.08 higher than their best parent. They are still in the mid to low 50s for conformation but it's a good start, right? We all have to start somewhere. :D

Also, I'm thinking of just getting a new breed and I have no idea what to do. I'm thinking ponies but I don't know.

Good job!! Also if you ever do decide to add in outside lines and want to throw colour into your herd, PM me. I’d be happy to give you a couple free breedings. :)

That’s awesome!

i have a quarter horse conformation project too. Raising confo is definitely a long term goal!

as far as new breeds, i always want more people to want to breed dressage arabians and thoroughbreds :p

I recently fell in love with the notion of showjumping Shetlands, mostly because the breed art strikes me as so delightfully curmudgeonly.

Thanks! I'm super excited for my little foundations. I've been trying to steal away from champagne colors since most of the high conformation Quarter Horses are champagne. I want to get more base colors specifically more chestnut and black and diluted and double diluted colors. And I would die for a seal brown and grills in there somewhere.

Arabs and Shetlands are definitely on my list of horses I'd like to get. I had a nice crew of Arabs a couple years ago and sold them all. I'm kicking myself now for doing that. I've never really done ponies or drafts. Can't I just get a whole bunch like several of each breed and I'll just end up with 1000 horses. Lol. There's nothing wrong with having 1000 horses, right? Lol.

There are a lot of people with 1000 horses, they just usually have the spread over several accounts. I have around 1100 on 3 accounts but 2 of the accounts I don't show or breed on. ;)

Also that's great on getting conformation up, for some reason breeding QHs is one of the most fun for me. I haven't bred my foundations yet but I am looking forward to it!

Lol. I have 2 accounts but I don't have anything on my other one. I have 184 right now but my Trakehners, Thoroughbreds and Paints have been locked for a little bit I think I'll be unlocking them sometime this week. I love my Quarter Horses. I love the breed art and I'm a Quarter Horse person in real life so it fits me. Lol.

With my future breeds I'm not sure if I want to buy or get foundations. We shall see. :)

I suggest buying from others. I used to only get foundations but I've come to realize that the market in ev will not improve until we all start buying horses from each other.

That's a good idea. Looks like I'll be out helping other members out :D Hopefully I find what I'm looking for.
