Skye
"There's something I want to check out," Skye said as they ate. Let's hope I don't run into anyone else today. "I'll be more careful this time."

Mason
Β He ignored the guy's statement, instead focusing on what he'd said to the little girl. "I knew it," he grumbled, finally turning to look at them. "Look, the name's Mason, and I don't mean to intrude on your personal life, but kindly tell the little brat that I thought she was dead this time. That's all I have to say. Have a good day."

John
"She's not far off it." John muttered, and this time not even the gentle coos and pats from the baby could soothe him back to a smile. He picked up his basket, shifting Cosette to one arm while he carried the food with the other. "Come on, you can go choose some flowers now. She liked the blue ones you brought in last week."Β

Skye
Skye finished her food and stood, taking her dishes to the small sink. "I'll be back in a few hours," she told the lady, grabbing her jacket on her way out. Once out on the street, Skye headed in the direction of the place she'd been earlier- it was time to do what she'd intended to do before.

Jackie
Jackie picked out a loaf of bread, a carton of milk, and some eggs. Looking down at her groceries, she let out a sigh. She wished she could buy more, but without a job, she had little money.

Ashwin
"Hey!" Ash sprinted after a man who he had been following discreetly for a while now. The man had been slipping from shadow to shadow, looking around furtively. He had finally realized Ash was following and dashed away. Luckily, Ash was in good shape, and he quickly caught up to him. Snagging a handful of shirt, he pulled him to a stop and twisted him around, keeping a firm grip without hurting him. "Where are you going?" The man looked up at Ash, fear written across his face. "I-I'm sorry." He produced a block of cheese, still in the store's wrapping, from under his shirt. "My family is starving, my wife is ill, I can't earn enough..." The man trailed off and handed Ash the cheese. "I stole it," he muttered. Ash bit his lip. "What's your name? And what store?" The man told him, and Ash nodded. He glanced around. This shadowy corner - and many others like it -was one reason they needed the patrols; the cameras couldn't really pick this area up. Ash handed the cheese back. "Take it, don't worry about it. You never saw me, I never saw you. Deal?" The man nodded, his expression a mix of disbelief and relief. "Thank you so much!" Ash gave a curt nod and walked away, not looking back. He now had some errands to run after his shift was over.

Nyla
She carefully arranged the obsidian on her dresser, standing on her toes to reach. She stepped back to look at it, a grin playing across her lips. Perfect! Humming the same tune she had been earlier, Nyla entered her mother's room. "Mommy?" Nyla knew it was unlikely her mother would wake up. She had been up late last night drinking. When the woman didn't stir, Nyla shook her head and stepped out. "I'm going out." No response. Sighing, Nyla walked out the house door, grabbing her mother's purse as she went. Somebody had to be responsible, and lunch wouldn't make itself. Especially when there was no food in the house.

Skye
Skye had made it all the way to the place she had hidden this morning without being recognized. There weren't many people here, which meant less witnesses of her 'crime." She kept her eyes open for any patrols as she walked purposefully toward her destination- the restricted area near the city wall.Β

Β He almost dropped his box of oatmeal as he went to put it into his bag. "...I'm sorry, what? Kaylee... We're talking about the- Well, I know we're talking about the same person. She's..?"

"In critical condition in hospital, like she has been for the past six months." He snapped, lowering his voice when Cosette flinched at the tone.Β

Β "Let me guess, she tried to go back in time to find me? She tends to do that a lot," he questioned, mostly to himself. He stashed the box of oatmeal alongside his loaf of bread before taking a few steps toward the two. "Listen, alright? Take me to the hospital or I'll send you to the Middle Ages. It's really quite simple."

Nyla
She walked past a florist shop. If there was enough she would buy a flower. Her mother would be angry, but Nyla knew she would already be upset over her spending any money. Regardless if it was on things they needed. Nyla walked into the grocery store and smiled at the person behind the counter, giving him her typical happy greeting. She was a regular here, with her colorful skirts and a purse that was several times too big for her. Nyla knew not to walk by the sweet pastries or her mouth would be watering. She stuck to her normal schedule and headed for the loaves of bread. She studied them all, comparing prices, and picked up the cheapest. Now to get some water - cheaper than milk - cheese, and just enough fruits and vegetables to last two people a day. Mommy hated her spending the extra for the greens but Nyla stressed the importance of a rounded diet and always got a little anyway. She peeked into the purse and did her best not to look sad. There wouldn't be enough for a flower. But maybe she could look inside and pick out what kind she wanted for when there was enough. Nyla checked one last time to make sure she had the cheapest bread before turning to look for the cheeses.

"No, actually, she tried to cut her body mods out." John then laughed bitterly, quirking in eyebrow in what looked to be either amusement or disbelief. "And sorry to break it to you, but you don't strike me as very intimidating, so no, I'm not going to take some guy from outside the walls, who I also just met, to see my terminally ill sister."

Perry
Β He wasn't at all surprised when the small girl continued walking past, though it was incredibly frustrating. He sighed in irritation, walking over to a display rack of seed packets and needlessly straightening some of them as a way to pass the time.

Mason
Β "Excuse me? Listen punk, I'm a literal war veteran, believe it or not, and I'd be willing to bet that if you told her about this lovely little conversation we're having, that she'd side with me." Right? Yeah. Of course.

Nyla
She skipped over to the cheese and looked at all the different types. Her favorite was also one of the more expensive ones, so she turned away and looked at the less high-quality, not as good, but more inexpensive ones. She selected a small slab, realized she would need a basket to carry everything, and retreated to the front of the store to get one. She placed the bread inside and returned to the cheese, where she picked up the slab she had chosen and nestled it next to the bread. She tallied the price so far in her head and picked up the basket. The water must have been moved, because she didn't see any on the shelf. She carried her basket of things to the front. "Excuse me," Nyla said, craning her neck back to see the clerk, "could you tell me where the water's been moved, please?" The clerk's head shook side to side. "We didn't move it; it's out of stock. There should be more coming in tomorrow." "Oh. Okay, thank you." She stood there a moment, not sure what to do now. Vegetables and fruit. Nyla would just have to go without water for the day. But this means I have enough for a flower. Spirits raised, she sang under her breath as she headed for the produce.
