Only The Strong Survive

Alex sighed, staring dejectedly at the now broken door. "I just wanted another fifteen minutes of sleep." He grumbled, hiking his bag higher onto his back. "Well kid, you can either come with us or scram, because after that, I'm not giving up my gun." He turned to the boy waiting in the kitchen, eyebrow raised.

Bryan
 He turned towards Jade before acknowledging the other boy, blinking in surprise. "You... you idiots just rejected the partnership of someone who has somewhat of a clue as to what they're doing. I should be more angry than this, but, seeing as you're both armed, I'm wisely choosing not to be." Then in response to the guy with the gun, "Honestly, what choice do I have at this point other than to stick with you?"

Jade
"Mm, yes, she seemed to be very knowledgeable on how to put people in danger." She gestured to the broken lock. "Please, tell me how that radiates having 'a clue as to what they're doing.'" Jade decided not to bring up camp or monsters or any of that fun stuff. She glanced at Alex. "We can check the garage for a gun before we go."

Alex
"I mean...." Alex shrugged like the answer was obvious. "No-one's making you stay." He glanced behind the kid to Jade, nodding. "I was in there before, but I was only looking for water. There's bound to be a gun somwhere."

Bryan
 Bryan sighed. "Okay. Fine." A pause. "You don't- You're not- I'msorryifthatsoundedrudeoranything and-," Just shut up, Bryan, for the love of god.

Jade
"You're fine." She nodded to Alex and walked across the room to the connecting door into the garage. "We may as well take a look and then get out of here. This place is just about useless now that the lock is broken."

Alex
Alex waved his hand dismissively. "You're fine, kid. I'm just running on about an hours sleep for the past week. I'll stay here and watch the door." He called that last part to Jade, taking a seat at the dining room table facing the offending door.

Outlaw 
She pulled her rifle into position and neatly mowed down a large group of zombies heading towards her. She pulled an ammo chain from her shoulder and fed it into the powerful rifle before slinging it back over her shoulder and continuing to think. 

Jade
She gestured toward the garage door with her head. "You coming along?" Jade asked Bryan, hand going to the doorknob and twisting. She opened the door and glanced inside just in case a zombie had someone made it in. All clear. This area was oddly quiet, which was either really good or very very bad.

Bryan
 "O-okay, yeah... Thanks," he mumbled in response, hesitantly walking up to the door. "This seems too... non-dangerous. I have a strange feeling I'm going to die soon. Are you getting that feeling too?"

Jade
She laughed, stepping through the doorway and entering the cooler atmosphere that was the garage. "Every day, though this area is way too quiet." Jade glanced around the garage, trying to find a good place to start looking. "You start over there, and I'll start on the other end. Work toward the back." She walked to the opposite side of the room by the large door that once would have opened to allow a car to enter. "So, what's your name?"

Bryan
 "Bryan Raymond," he replied, beginning to make his way over to his side of the room. "My mom used to own a candle shop not too far from here. I don't know if you've ever visited it or not. She's a zombie now."

Jade
Ouch. "I've never been here before. Me and Alex came up this way for vacation. Sorry." Jade realized she had no idea where her mom was right now, whether she was safe or a zombie. Or James. Or anyone else other than Alex. I'll figure that out when I get back. 

Bryan
 He shrugged, despite her not being able to see the gesture from the complete other side of the room. He began rifling through a few large boxes and crates, but didn't find anything worth having. "It's fine. It was just a sales pitch. I guess it's kinda pointless now, though, isn't it?"

Jade
"This won't go on forever." At least, I hope not. Jade rummaged through a tool box and then sifted through some items on a table.
