Each dorm is single sex, with 6 beds. One bed in each dorm always seems to be left empty, and it seems to be that people come and go regardless of when the semesters start and end. There are common rooms, but no kitchens. Meals are all served in canteens and lunch and dinner can be put in take out boxes to be eaten back in your rooms but everyone must come down to the canteen for breakfast.

Each dorm has an alarm that rings at 7.30am each morning, even on weekends. Breakfast starts at 8am, and finishes at 9.15am. Classes start at 9.30am promptly, break for lunch between 12-1.30pm and finish at 4pm. Dinner is served between 5-8.30pm

The stables are open until 10pm each night, and if students wish to ride they must be finished riding by 9.30pm.

The pool is open 24/7, however after 10.30pm there is only one life guard and access is only allowed for strong, competent swimmers after 11.30pm. The track is open until 10pm every day, and the Performance Gym is open until 10.30pm, whilst the much smaller Residents Gym is open 24/7 with no staff present. The spa pools remain open 24/7, however massages and spa treatments are unavailable after 9.30pm

Curfew is at 10.30pm Monday-Friday, and Lights Out is at 11pm, with exceptions for those who hold passes for the sports facilities and various clubs.

Morning roll call is at 9.35am, afternoon roll call is at 4.05pm and evening roll call is at 10.35pm

CCTV is in operation at all times - and yes, there are security staff present at all times too.

Boys and girls are strictly kept separate in dorms, and unapproved clubs, gatherings and meetings are strictly prohibited.

Dorm parties, alcohol, vandalism, breaking curfew or lights out, missing a roll call and unauthorised visits are strictly prohibited, and anyone who is caught breaking these rules can expect to be punished

Anyone caught sneaking out, sneaking back in or sneaking someone else out or in can expect to have life made very hard for them for a little while.

Wellthorne does provide privileges, but it takes them away as quickly as it gives them out.

...so, just make sure you don't get caught ;)

---

Wellthorne's classes work in the form of slots, 2 morning slots between breakfast and lunch, and 3 afternoon slots between lunch and afternoon roll call. Attendance isn't compulsory, but you do have to pass these classes and repeated absence is noted. Oh, and you also must attend your group sessions.

Leo

He heard the bell ring, bringing him out of his sleep with a loud groan. He grabbed at his pillow, shoving it over his head in a hope to drown the noise out as he wrapped himself in his duvet and covers. He could already hear his dorm mates beginning to wake up and as much as he knew if he didn't get up soon he'd miss the warm water in the showers, he also knew he had swimming as his second class and he had to admit the showers in the sports centre seemed to be so much nicer, cleaner, moderner and warmer than the dorm showers. The bell kept ringing, it always rings for four minutes straight to make sure you are definitely awake by the time it stops, he timed it on his third day here and he's spent the last five weeks trying to not let it wake him up. He pressed the pillow further over his ears, the muted ringing and the aching of his muscles from last night seeming to take over, and he felt himself relax and the beginning of sleep coming back to him. He could feel one of his dorm mates pulling at his covers and he kicked out at him. Today was the day he was beating the bell, even if it risked punishment for the rest of them and the resentment of his ever changing dorm mates. He hissed when he felt someone shake him, he knew exactly who it was and he was already fed up with rule abiding Clarence who loved to point out he'd been here for longer than Leo and that Leo was far too relaxed when it came to the regulations they were meant to follow. When he felt hands on him a third time he lashed out, feeling his fit come into contact with what felt like a jaw and when he heard the whimper he knew it was definitely Clarence. He sighed, the bell was still ringing and he shut his eyes tight, his body relaxing again as he felt the waves of sleep beginning to wash over him. He could hear the mumblings of his dorm mates who would no doubt report him, but he didn't care today. The blankets he was wrapped in felt fluffy and light and he was so warm and cosy nothing was tearing him away from his bed right now.

He ended up missing breakfast, it was 9.23am when he finally woke up. Bleary eyed, he realised the dorm was completely empty and he had done it, he'd slept through the bell. The beds were all neatly made and bedside tables neatly lined up, and he glanced at his that had various things thrown on it that he couldn't even process right now. He rolled onto his back and ran his hand through his hair, throwing back his covers and dressing himself quickly. He'd just have to be late for group, not that he cared. He saw group as nothing more than a chance for the self obsessed to talk about themselves and the sad to sob loudly and talk about how awful their life was and the others, well the others who he considered to be either nerds or odd, or whatever you could call them, could squeal about whatever nerd-thing excited them and he was over it. He hated his group therapist, 'Call Me Kate' who also taught Spanish with an appalling accent and who loved to call him wrong for using the terms his mother taught him and was generally up herself. He regretted signing up for her class from day one, wishing instead he'd gone for French or German because whilst he's not gifted with languages he speaks enough to be able to master them. He threw on a hoodie without a t-shirt, probably breaking a dress code in doing so but he didn't care, he'd already broken at least one with his insistence to wear dog tags. He made sure he lifted his swim bag, he was fairly sure he was meant to have done some sort of dream journal or compliment book or some other stupid feel good exercise for group which of course he hadn't done. He yawned, sitting on the end of his bed and counting down the minutes until he was officially late for morning roll call and would be officially punished for it. He'd been at the pool until 3am last night, and he was feeling it today in the dull ache in his knee. His brace sat on top of his chest of drawers, but he couldn't bring himself to wear it and show some sort of weakness, some of the kids here loved to see a weakness. The clock struck 9.35, and he sighed, standing up and wincing as he took a few steps, throwing his swim bag over his shoulder and making his way to group. He wasn't stupid enough to know missing roll and group wasn't worth the punishment they gave out for it.

Bree

Bree was awake before the bell, as usual. She was showered and dressed before the bell rang, having made sure she'd made her bed tidy and she was following the rules that had been read out to her when she first arrived. She also knew the best breakfast was served early and she fancied a full English breakfast with all the trimmings this morning. Every other day she woke up an extra forty five minutes early to make sure she got down for her full English, and the canteen staff had already got to know her even though she had only just started her third week. It was in part because she had group as her first class every other day, and she needed the comfort of her breakfast to get through it. It wasn't that she spoke out, she didn't often feel like she had much to say and she spent the time counting down the minutes until she could leave. In truth, she found some of it overwhelming, especially with the arguments that usually erupted between Leo and just about everyone. He seemed to enjoy playing the devils advocate, but Bree enjoyed the few sessions he hadn't shown up too and actually felt like she'd got something out of them, even if calling Ms Raminski Kate seemed odd to her. She pulled down the bottom of her jumper over her leggings, brushing her hair up into a high ponytail. She felt the chain of her crucifix, and for the first time since she arrived she found herself unfastening it and hiding it in her bedside drawer. It had been a gift from her aunt for her conformation, but now more than ever she felt that part of her life was behind her. Time to leave the past so she could move on, in many ways. Looking at her bedside table, she saw the photo of her and Benny and decided it was only fair she left him in the past too, her relationship hadn't been one that lasted with Wellthorne's strict no outsiders rule and her parents refusal to let her communicate with him. He was in the past, even if he was part of her reason for being here. The bell went as she was doing her foundation, and she smiled at her roommates as they began their slow, zombie like walk to the showers.

As soon as she knew the canteen was open she found herself bouncing downstairs to the canteen and smiling widely as she asked for her sausages, beans, egg, hash browns, bacon and mushrooms. She ate on her own, sat at the end of a table in the quietest part of the room while she watched the others come and go. She wished she could say she was on her own by choice, but the truth was she had yet to make any real friends and she did enjoy having her mornings to herself, it gave her time to think and really enjoy her breakfast, to really savour the different tastes of what really was a fresh and well cooked breakfast. When she was done she left her plate in the hatch and decided to go for a walk around the gardens, to kill the next hour before group.

Katie

"I wish they were able to sneak Blanca back in." Katie sighed sadly over a half eaten plate of burnt bacon and lukewarm eggs, and two males sitting next to and across from her look up. "Who, Jason and Kelsey?" Henry asked from across the table, and Katie confirmed with a nod. "Bet Eloise regrets ratting them out." Her entire demeanour changed in a second, with Katie grinning and sitting up a little straighter, looking over to her shoulder at a tall blonde girl still nursing a recently reset nose and a split lip, who returned her grin with an ice cold glare, to which Katie retorted, mouthing, "Snitches get stitches!" Brian, sitting next to her, shook his head. "Y'know, you are one crazy b-" "So, you guys excited for tonight?" Henry interrupted cheerfully; he knew that if Brian and Katie got into another fight, it would land them both back in detention. Katie stood, taking her plate (along with Brian and Henry's) over to the trolley full of stacked dirty dishes, huffing a reply to the boys trailing behind her. "I don't see why we have to go to the pools EVERY time we break curfew." Brian laughed, and Henry joined in. "Just because you can't swim, Kitty, doesn't mean that we aren't gonna. And anyway's, Uncle is always the lifeguard when we go." Katie had to agree with that, and she was tired enough to ignore the nickname. Uncle, one of the adult swim team and lifeguard crew, was the only lifeguard who took pity on the land stranded girl who associated water with the ice bath she got after the big fire, after she was burnt. She was allowed to sit quietly in the stands and talk to Henry and Brian, who were both on the swim team, and therefore had passes allowing them to swim whenever they wanted. Katie, meanwhile, would prefer to be anywhere but the pools. She often would wander around in the dark, or, if there was still time, visit the stables. "Well, no promises I'll come tonight." And then they all laughed, because of course Katie would turn up. "How long do we have until spanish?" Henry asked, and Katie and Brian pulled a face. "Ugh, spanish." Brian said, and Katie nodded along. "Y'all only dislike spanish because you got kicked out of french for cussing the teacher out." Henry raised an eyebrow, and the two were silent. "Femme stupide." Katie muttered, and Brian sniggered. "You're like children." Henry sighed, walking ahead of them. "Aw, don't you wanna be seen with us, Hen?" Brian cried dramatically, a hand to his chest, making Katie erupt into giggles hidden badly behind a hand. "Come on kids, spanish awaits." Henry called over his shoulder, and they all headed to class.

"Bye, Gracie!" Diana, Grace's mother called out as Grace swiftly walked to the office. She had an already planned timetable for all 5 days of the week. An odd number. She had created her timetable online and knew it off by heart.

Just as she arrived in the office, at precisely 7:29AM, the bell rung for the start of the day.
"Good Morning, Grace May Lewis, yep, no, OK, Thanks!" Grace bolted out the door of the office and ran to her dorm. Dorm 2, it said. Fumbling, Grace grabbed the keys out of her back pocket and hurriedly unlocked the door with a clang. With horror, she realised that she was the only one awake.
"Oh, uhh, sorry guys!" She whispered as she found an empty bed and unpacked all of her stuff. Just as she was in the middle of unpacking, she looked around the other girls beds and saw plenty of photos of them and their family. No shame, she decided and started to put of photos of her own. In no time, her bed was the best of them all.

Grace's first day went really quickly and soon it was lunch time. She glanced around the room and saw full tables everywhere. Settling for a lone table in a quiet corner of the room, she sat and ate her lunch.

Leo

Coach very nearly dragged him out of the pool half way through class, yelling at him to get out before he drowned himself as he refused to jump in to save him. He ignored him, pretending he couldn't hear him, his mind bubbling.

You probably can't even swim you fat pathetic old -

Pain shot through his leg from his knee, raw and aching and nearly a bad as when he first injured himself but he wasn't going to let it stop him. He couldn't let anyone see he had a weakness, especially as he was the stand out swimmer in this class and his times were significantly slower than what he'd been consistently getting before his accident and surgery. He must have kept going for another five minutes, before he grabbed at the bar and tried to put his feet down and realised with a sickening feeling his left knee was buckling and he couldn't put any weight on it. Coach was approaching him from the side lines, no doubt to pull him out. He shook his head, checked the clock, turned and pushed off the wall, ignoring the pain in his leg, ignoring the burning of his muscles as he let his anger and adrenaline take over. He would get it this time, he would get it this time, he would get it this time. He got to the wall, turned and pushed back off. He needed to be quicker, and tried to extend his reach in his front crawl and put more power in his kick. He could see the end of the pool approaching, and as soon as he hit the bar he glanced at the clock. He swore loudly, loud enough coach was actually walking fast enough to come over and punish him. Leo slapped at the water, the pain from his knee suddenly starting hitting him with strength enough that for a second he thought he was going to pass out. He shook his head, turning to try again when he felt hands grab him.

"Get out, you're done." Coach's tone was firm and cold, and Leo couldn't slip through his grasp this time.

"Don't put your filthy hands on me, coach." He hissed, using his hands to try and climb out of the pool, and swearing even louder as his knee came into contact with the side and he fell back in with a splash.

Leo can't even remember how he got out of the pool, but he's back on crutches and has been told he'll need to speak to his surgeon if he's still in this much pain. The bell to signal lunch goes, and he's fuming. He's so slow on crutches, caught up in the masses of people making their way to the canteen and being left behind by them. His mind is racing with what this means, this could be it for him, this could be his swimming career well and truly over after such a carefully planned and managed comeback. He punched a wall, cracking a tile and slicing and knuckle, he was angry, so so angry. He'd been involved in a shouting match with coach who had ended it by telling him he was banned from training in the pool regardless of how good a swimmer he was, which had only lead to Leo being held back to refrain from smacking that smug man by one of his team mates. He knew he'd be called in to some office later, and punched the wall again, smashing a tile this time. He heard footsteps coming behind him and decided he'd be better heading to the canteen, when he finally got there walking in and grabbing a carton of milk and an apple, as well a tray with spaghetti and meatballs, waving his crutches at anyone who complained that he was skipping the queue. He could see his friends at their tables and pulled his hood up, he couldn't deal with people right now. He spotted the empty table in the corner and headed over, balancing his lunch precariously with his crutches and slamming the tray down before he realised there was a girl sat there. He looked over at her as he manoeuvred himself to sit down, making as much noise as he possibly could.

"Don't look at me, don't try and speak to me and I don't care about you." He spat at her with a bit more disdain than he intended, and he did feel bad as soon as he realised what he'd said, but his temper once again got the better of him and he knew he couldn't take it back at this point either.

Looking up, Grace stared as a guy with bright emerald green eyes spat out a few words at her. She froze. He was incredible. Nodding in agreement and shock she went back to eating her lettuce sandwich in silence.
"So, umm, I'm Grace..." She started, forgetting that he didn't want to be spoken too.

Leo

He stopped eating, mid chew and glared at her hard. Did she seriously just completely ignore what he'd just said?

He kept glaring, trying to intimidate her. He swallowed slowly, not breaking his glare.

"Do you not understand English?" His voice was low, threatening he hoped. He tried not to wince as he stretched his leg out, it was awkward but much more comfortable when he wasn't trying to bend his knee. He knew he'd have to run with this now, he couldn't be seen to be weak here. He broke his gaze so his eyes could run over her, she was obviously new, she was too clean to have been here for any sort of time. Even those who kept themselves neat and tidy seemed to lack the polish of the world outside Wellthorne and even those who called themselves wild rebels had that sort of new car smell about them that set them apart.

He went back to his glare, only breaking it to roll his eyes as someone else joined their table.

Bree

Bree was lucky in that she spent a lot of her Tuesdays in the stable, every Tuesday morning she had group, followed by animal communication which usually ended up in the stables, then riding before lunch. After lunch she'd been lucky enough to be allowed to participate in the afternoon equestrian session, as part of her animal communications. And without fail, each night she was found in the stables doing whatever she could to help out which did occasionally include riding even if it was usually nothing more than 30 minutes of walking and trotting around the grounds. It was her trainer who'd told her to keep an eye out for the new girl, after Bree had asked about the new horse who'd arrived that morning. She'd love to say she'd made an educated guess, but the truth was her trainer had shown her a photo. She didn't realise she was sat with Leo at first, if she had she may not have approached her, he'd scared her on her first day when she went to the pool and disturbed him, which led to him turning the lights off and locking the doors so she thought she'd been locked in and since then used it to make fun of her. She knew he was well liked, in part due to how laid back and anti-establishment he was, but knew he had a temper and wasn't someone to be messed with, he played the system a way not many others tried too and his attitude of 'over it' frequently led to everyone associated with him facing as many sanctions as he did.

Bree sat down and as soon as she did she realised who the boy sat next to her was. She tried her best not to let her smile falter, ignoring him to extend her hand to the new girl.

"So, you're new right? I'm Bree, Coach Saunders told me to look out for you, we have riding together after lunch!" Her sunny optimism seemed to shine through her speech, at least she hoped. It would be nice to find a friend who she actually seemed to understand, rather than just acquaintances she spent time with.

Derek

Derek had very nearly missed breakfast this particular morning, but knowing that he had already missed it for most of the first week he had been here, he had rather not get punished any further. It was now week two for him and Derek was still mulling over the idea that he was too far away from his mom to see her. As he sat at breakfast, his mind wandered back to home, wondering what his mom was possibly up to at this moment. If she wasn't in jail, she was probably passed out at home on the couch. When the bell rang once more, he blindly got up and threw his trash away before heading off to group. He hadn't yet bothered to take part in group and he thought of it as unnecessary. He usually used that time to think about other things he could be using that time for. Like being at the barn and improving on his riding. In retrospect, Derek knew very little about riding horses, but none of the other sports seemed to be interesting.

Everything flew by and the next thing he knew, he was at the barn. He walked around the barn, checking the stalls before coming upon the one that he had been given as his beginner horse. It was a short, chestnut mare with almost as bad as a temperament as the kids here sometimes. He patted her neck before wheeling the muck cart over to clean the stall. The whole time he hummed a tune in which he didn't know the name of, but was one of his favorites. He patted the equines neck once before he left the stall, giving a promise that he would let her out to stretch her legs. He wheeled off the muck cart, dumping it and returning.

The rest of his time at the barn was spent with light exercising, walking and trotting and learning to better balance himself in the saddle. He heard the bell ring just as he was hosing down and he hurriedly put her back in her stall. "I'll return later Molly," he called out to the equine before he made his way across to the canteen for his second meal of the day.

When he arrived at the canteen, it was bustling with noise from all the kids who sat and stayed to eat. Derek hated the noise and much preferred to eat outside where there was less disturbance. He grabbed a tray and a cold deli sandwich with roast beef and lettuce on it, then grabbed a carton of milk before walking out of the building, sitting against the building in the grass while he ate.

 Madison

Madison woke just before the bell had begin to ring and therefore was able to get showered and dressed just before the others. It was rare that Madi would wake up at an early time, but her sleep schedule was still distraught, even after being here for two and a half weeks. She hurriedly made it to the canteen, being one of the few to arrive early. She only grabbed an banana muffin and a carton of orange juice before taking her spot in a corner close to the exit. She didn't speak to anyone and no one spoke to her which made her happy but upset at the same time. She needed friends, friends she could actually see and talk to, but none of the people here seemed to interest her.

The first half of the day came and went smoothly with the same boring classes at the same boring time. Madison saved her favorite part of the day for after lunch which meant she could go to the track for her mid day run. She had spent almost her whole first week hiding away in the gym or at the track. It was a mere distraction that she wasn't allowed to do the things she enjoyed doing anymore. She latched on to the only thing that she could and it was dancing. Madi's mind wandered, calculating the dance routine she had created while she walked her way to the canteen for lunch.

When Madi finally arrived, it wasn't nearly as loud as it usually was. She grabbed her tray with a salad and a bottle of water complete with a side of red jello. She walked over to a nearly empty table, hearing a guy snap out at a girl across the table. She knew neither of their names and didn't really care, but then the girl spoke her name. Grace. Madison looked up at the two people, unsure if she should speak. Neither of the two spoke and was beginning to feel awkward. "My name is Madison," she blurted out to mask the awkwardness she felt at the table. She covered her mouth and smiled, feeling slightly embarrassed. "Sorry," she said again, apologizing for her outburst. She lowered her head and began to eat at her salad once more.

Leo

Leo bristled, feeling himself bubbling. He recognised Bree, of course he did, she'd made the mistake of jumping into the pool and landing in his lane on the one occasion he was so close to making a time close to what he was swimming before his injury. He'd never forgiven her, he'd still not come close to making that time since. He found her irritating, even without the bad introduction, her participation in the pointless classes and enthusiasm for everything Wellthorne offered rubbed him the wrong way. He didn't recognise the third girl, and rolled his eyes. Of course they all seemed to be loud ones. He made a point of stabbing a meatball with his fork, then realised he didn't actually want it. Just as he was debating throwing it at Bree, he decided a less childish option was to just slam his cutlery down again and make a point of leaving instead. He tried to move to stand, needing to bring his leg back underneath him, but found he couldn't and the pain shot through him, his crutches were just out of reach. Of course they were. Of course he'd be stuck here.

"Do you mind?" He hissed, his fist curling on the table more from pain than anger. He tried to use his good leg to kick his crutches over, and finally at least one was in reach. He snatched at it, wincing as he tried to jump up whilst grabbing the other one. "Next time make sure the basic club has a permit to meet, or you'll get written up." He snapped, realising he had no way of lifting his tray either which would be another infraction.

Lunchtime came, and the boys had excused Katie from being present in the canteen, claiming that she was over in the pool for lessons. In reality, Katie had nestled herself outside in a dip in the wall, digging through her bag to pull out a cheap burner phone she had privately asked Kelsey to get for her. She dialed in a number she knew off by heart.
"Ciao madre." She started, pacing a little and running a hand nervously through her hair. "I know that you haven't been in a very good place at the moment..... I wish you'd pick up your phone. I love you..... please find and take good care of Blanca for me, okay? From Katie." She murmured in rough Italian, she wasn't really allowed to speak italian anymore, and she still needed to dispose of the phone, so that neither her nor Kelsey would get into trouble..... but she couldn't just bin it. This stupid school checked all the bins and such.... maybe she could have Kelsey drop it back outside when she left again? Katie slumped down against the wall almost dejectedly, sighing.

Leaving without another word, she ran off to French class, shaking. She already didn't like it here, and hoped that French would go over without a hitch. At least she had something to look forward to afterwards: Equestrian! She was going to ride her trusty bay gelding, Sunny.

Derek

Derek sat watching as a few students would walk past every now and again. He was just about to stand up and rid of his empty tray when he heard a voice. It was coming from around the corner, but he couldn't understand anything that was being said. When he thought that the person was gone, he turned the corner to head in to the canteen and drop his tray. His eyes landed on a figure leaning against the wall, stopping Derek in his tracks. He gulped, knowing that it looked like he had been eavesdropping on the conversation. "Oohh," he let out a breathe, though unable to formulate any words. He felt bad for hearing the conversation even if he didn't know what was being said. "Hello," he said slowly.

Madison

Madison looked up at the guy that was now ticking her off at his rudeness. Anger boiled in the pit of her and she felt the need to scream at him and tell him off. "Your such a freaking jerk," she spat out at him. She knew she would regret saying the words, but it was already far too late. She glared at the guy before looking at the tray that he couldn't even pick up. "Oh, dear it seems that you are in quite a predicament," she pestered on, "Here let me help you with that." She picked up the plate that still had some spaghetti on it before turning and taking a step towards the trash bins. She halted, turning around and shoved the noodles and meat right in his face. A smile began to form on her face and in that moment she didn't care about getting in trouble. She felt good that she had stood up to the guy.

".....Hi." Katie started, unsure of just how much this guy had heard. She decided to just bite the bullet and get out with it. "You gonna rat me out for having a phone?" She raised an eyebrow, face growing dark. She didn't want to be mean, but her getting caught would get not just herself, but Kelsey into trouble, and the poor junior was already in enough hard detention time that she was barely allowed meal times.

(Also ahAHAHAHHAA MADISON IS SO GREAT I LOVE HER AS I READ HER BIT I LAUGHED ALOUD AND GOT WEIRD LOOKS)

Derek

Derek took a step back, holding on to his tray of trash. The demeanor of the girl reminded him of a friend back home and it made him laugh even thought the situation was not humorous in the slightest. "Uh no, I'm not a snitch like some of these kids here," he stated factually. The only real reason that he was here was because someone ratted his mom out back home. Anger formed at the thought of the person, causing Derek to grip to his tray tighter. He quickly released the strong grip, ridding himself of the thought that brought the anger. His attention returned to the girl. "Look don't worry about me ratting you out, I have far better things to do with my time than get buddy buddy with the security team around here."

(XD she couldn't look like a coward)

Katie snickered, backing down and running a hand through her hair. "Good to see you have some brains in you." She glanced through the open doors of the canteen at the clock on the wall. "What's my third class? English? Eh..." She murmured to herself, deciding to just go and spend the next class period at the stables.
