Non-Spec Stats and foals?

Question! I adopted some under 3 year horses that have been given haycubes or other nonspecialty treats and it has kinda messed with the stat spread. I have never raised a foal from birth so I don't know what happens when they turn 3. When I choose a specialty at 3, will the gained stats redistribute like they do when I retrain a horse, or should I choose a different specialty than I want and then retrain them to redistribute those stats? Thanks to anyone who can help!

No the treat stats aren't converted when selecting a discipline. You need to select a different discipline to complete training and then convert as normal.

(I made this mistake... 16 horses -> 32 credits to fix. Don't recommend.)
