Poll
With upcoming features such as Crop Farms/Orchards, backgrounds and further Leisure Riding expansions, I've been considering in-game seasons. These would be regular real-world seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn/Fall, Winter) and would rotate on a weekly or monthly basis.

Thought I would get those out of the way before moving onto the heavier reading ;)

Hiring an Admin
I have decided to open up an admin role on Equiverse. I have realised that, while I love the EV community and I cherish every single member who plays and contributes their thoughts and opinions and time to the game, it's very exhausting doing everything alone.

If you have ever wanted to run a sim game, now is your chance. This role is essentially a Community Manager with a little bit extra - it can't solely be defined as Community Manager so I will keep it nice and simple as "Admin".

Duties
- Organising the forums, specifically the suggestions board and bug board.
- Compiling a document of bugs and suggestions that need to be addressed that I can work from (I already have a working document, so I would like that to be continued as is).
- Joining the moderator team and helping them resolve issues raised by members.
- Be online on a specific day (to be determined) every week for updates, as I would like to start delivering fixed weekly or bi-weekly updates to the game.
- Compiling news posts from the list of updates that I do.
- Being a presence on the forums and (when we get one) in chat for members.
- Possibly handling social media for the game (Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr).

Requirements
- You must be 18 or over.
- You must be knowledgeable about Equiverse.
- You must be self-motivated and spend a lot of time online.
- Good English skills are essential.
- Experience with Google Docs is preferable.
- Skype is essential for talking to me and the mod team - microphone is not needed, only the text side of Skype is ever used.

Payment
This will be a paid role. Exact figures can be discussed before you take on the job. This is not necessarily a full time role, but I would hope to have contact with you almost every day.

Please note that this is an extremely serious role as this is my business and my livelihood - please don't take it lightly, and only apply if you have the enthusiasm and dedication to the game to help me run it. Ideally, we will start with a trial of 2-3 months and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out, I would look to hire someone else.

To Apply
Please send me a PM with some information about yourself and your game history on Equiverse. If you have a resume, or would like to set up a specific one for this particular role, that would also be appreciated (perhaps a Google doc link). If you have experience running sim games, please include which one(s).

I will be prioritising anyone who is already active on the forums, has maybe created a guide or has helped in the forums and been knowledgeable about the game.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me :)

I love the idea of seasons. I'm not too fussed what sort of time scale they're implemented on so I voted for "yes, but don't care about frequency", but I'm leaning more towards weekly. 4 in 1 week would perhaps be too much. Monthly or fortnightly would be fine as well though. Perhaps this could be involved in the proposed crops feature? Maybe certain crops could only be planted/harvested in certain seasons? Or mature over the course of a 'year'? I'm really looking forward to crops.

All the best in the search for an admin. :) I think it's a great idea for a game and community as large as ours.

I love the idea of seasons. I agree with "4 in1 week would be too much" however I'm also split because it already IS a game year. I feel like once a week would change enough to keep it interesting, but not enough to make it too fast. I love UB's idea to involve the seasons in with the proposed crop feature. I feel that is more realistic.

Good luck on finding an admin!

Ulysses - I KNEW there was another feature I was forgetting about. Yes this would absolutely be used for farms/orchards to have seasonal crops and the like :) I think it's actually the main reason I wanted seasons, but my brain had a disconnect somewhere haha.

I would honestly prefer 1 season per week, I think that pacing would be the best because you're not stuck with a season for an entire month. Also with farms/orchards in mind I would probably say weekly would be best. We'll see though :)

Got the second notification. But made read about the crops/orchard idea I didn't know about yet.
In that case a weekly change of season might be better. I voted monthly orignally since I don't really like big lay-out changes normally (maybe it's that autism in me ^_^), but that would be a long time for growing the same crops I guess.

Unfortunately I can't change my vote now.

Oh that's a good question would in game seasons change the top banner as well? or would that remain the same with the earthly seasons(for the northern hemisphere anyway xD)

I voted yes with no preference also, but I think the weekly makes the most sense from a player perspective, not too long and easier to remember. While every two days or something would make it realistic to the horse ages, constant turnover would be killer and make people with busy schedules have a harder time to catch certain seasons.

So exciting, will the seasons effect breeding? like in real life?

Good luck with the admin!

It sounds like you might need a couple of people for this, one to manage the game and another to run the social media front. Someone might be a pro at this game, but is bad at keeping up with their social media.
The four seasons part sounds cool but hard to have it change every week. How about we have it change every month (total of 4 months). I've only been playing for two weeks ish so i don't know too many people yet.

Will crops be only for only deluxe members or for both types of members? Excited for the new changes. I'm not really picky on how the seasons will go. I hope you have an easy time on finding another admin to help you out with EQ. Also, will the seasons change on how breeding will go?

I originally voted monthly but I think that might be too long for seasons if doing crops. Weekly would be better but I kind of like the idea of two weeks. I'm going to guess that crops would be to feed to the horses? And there would be different crops each season? If this is done weekly I feel crops might be too readily available. Two weeks would help keep from having an abundant amount while making sure there are enough. It would be kind of cool to have winter as a rest month as well.

I wish I had experience running sim games. Modding just isn't the same thing as admin. Good luck to all that apply!
