BBCode and Bugfixes

← Back to News

Hello all,

Needless to say my house move didn't go as smoothly as I'd have liked! But I'm back now, and hopefully I will be able to bring you some more updates in the coming weeks. Just a small one today to get back in the swing of things!

New BBCode System
Today I've implemented a brand new BBCode system which looks a lot cleaner and offers some more options including unordered lists, tables and quoting. It may be a little broken in some places so please let me know if you experience anything that doesn't work.

Bugs Fixed
* Daily progression should be fixed now. I am so sorry for leaving you guys high and dry with that bug, it should not have happened but luckily it was a quick fix. Any problems related to foals not being born, training not resetting, boarding days not going down, etc should have been linked to this bug. If you've posted a bug and it hasn't been fixed by this, please bump up your topic so that it gets to the top of the forum and I will get to it asap.
* Tutorial Stage 6 should now be fixed. If you are still stuck on it, I would advise buying a new 3 year old horse from the Equine Center and just completing that horse's foal training to get the progression. Sorry for the huge delay on this one, I realise it will have affected mostly new members :(
* Rescue horses should now "expire" after 3 days as they used to before the progression system was introduced.
* Group owners can now delete messages from their group's board.

question on the poll. Is yes - allow them to be born and completely normal and no- the foal is still born and dies? Also, what would happen to the mare's breeding rest period if the foal died?

What level do I need to be on to, Sell horses. When I select For Sale there is no place to put the amount.

I'm loving all the new BBCode options. I've noticed \r\n sometimes gets added in some spots, and sometimes some BBCode wasn't rendered, but this may have just been because I was online while you were implementing it and still ironing out the kinks. I'll do some more testing and make a post on the forums if I see this still happening.

Also, I think the poll needs a "I have no idea" option. XD I see pros and cons to both options and can't make up my mind.

Can someone please explain how the new BB code works? Thank you

is the new BB code supposed to do this to my layout? If you look at muy page it is just all messed up. Do we have to go through and change everything for the new code system :P

Yay! Thank you Abbey!

I just wanted to point out that BBC code on my home page is a little funny. In the editor, it is previewing with the colors and sizes etc but on my publish page it is just showing the raw code.

@Decorous Equus - It is essentially giving you more of a word editor option to customize your fonts and layouts without having to know the code or shortcuts so it should be easier to draft posts and your home page. Like a blog editor.

Buttons in order:
* Text customization (bold, italics, underline, strike through, subscript, superscript)
* Text alignment (right, center, left, justify)
* Text size
* Text color
* Bullet list
* Insert table
* Insert code (this is for if you want to post the actual code like in a tutorial)
* Insert quote
* Insert horizontal rule or page break (a line across the page between sections)
* Insert image
* Insert link
* Remove link or unlink
* View source (so you can look at the code itself rather than a preview of what the page will look like to others)

as far as the poll goes, I'm on the fence-
I only support it if the horses die like real life, but at the same time that would really suck...
this is hard! and I usually have a definite opinion on things lol

If you're having issues with your homepage there was a bug in the code that's since been fixed. Just re-save your layouts and things should go back to looking fine!

is my table meant to be so far down when I only hit enter once after the last line of text above it? Seems strange

My alignment isn't showing correctly on my page for some reason. Specifically my center alignment. Is this part of a bug that is being straightened out or am I doing something wrong? I made sure that the *[center]*[/center] is included in the lines I want in the center and even though they appear correctly aligned in the coding window, if still appears on the left side of my page when I "update settings".

Considering my knowledge on coding is very little it could very well be me doing something wrong :P

My concern with the lethal gene is. What happens if I pay a large amount for a stud to breed my mare? Will the stud owner guarentee a live foal and rebreed or offer a partial refund? If the stud continues to produce dead foals will they geld that awsome stallion? Some of the stud fees are for me hard to come by to improve my lines. Will we be able to "see" this lethal gene so we know the horse is not a good candidate for breeding? I know that is not a gene I would want spreading through my herd and would really hate to have to retire what I have worked hard to create because suddenly they have this gene
